the wind on my face feels heavy at times
for reasons that i cannot comprehend.

or maybe i'm just desperately trying
to ignore the signs that i may be dead.

like how i try to look away
from my rotting skin on my hands.

or how my mind no longer screams
when it hurts too much to bear.

just when i thought things were better
but really, it has only been downhill.

it wasn't like this just months ago
but that too feels like a fever dream.

maybe i was just in denial of these
imperfections that i kept a secret.

maybe i was just trying to run away
from the fate that i knew i'd have.

maybe i was just too scared to go,
to take another step, so i stopped it all.

i stopped enjoying
the waves of the ocean.

i stopped enjoying
the art that i adored.

i stopped enjoying
writing little poetry.

i stopped enjoying
reading ink on paper.

i stopped enjoying
petting street animals.

i stopped enjoying
the morning birds chirp.

i stopped enjoying
the life that i live.

and maybe i threw it away.
maybe i left everything behind.
maybe i wasted my potential.
maybe i killed the human in me.

“a life still alive”

worms wiggle inside my rotten skin.
my favorite poems lay in the trash bin.
why cant i tell them how i truly feel?
why cant they understand im not a fish to reel?

one by one my fingers fall off my hands.
to write with it, my pen still demands.
when will i get up and be alright?
when will i stand out in the light?

but maybe one day the rot will fade,
daylight will hit where it was once shade.
perhaps i'll learn how to live again,
all my lost poems and memories i will regain.

on the hill,
oh, that hill;
where memories played like film.
her smile was wide,
the morning dew sweet on the breeze.
she sat beside me,
a bouquet of flowers resting on her lap.
she picked the tiny flowers
one by one,
tucking them into my hair
as if painting with petals,
each touch light as air.
fingers gentle,
the breeze held its breath,
and i, too, stayed still,
afraid this moment might flee.
petals fell softly,
a crown of quiet joy.
