Horror films - can they be classified as “date movies”?

Can a horror film be good as a first date movie? It took me years to realise "date movie" could mean a film that physically brings you closer to your date of the evening - something scary or horrible would make you grab their arm (quaint but fun) I always assumed the term "date movie" was from the 1950s but apparently it comes from film marketing in the 1970s? Does anyone have thoughts on this? I was taken on a date to Henry Portrait of A Serial Killer and Necromantic and I wasn't drawn closer to the person who asked me to go with them but I think that was the plan.

watched Killjoy 2 last night. it had a budget of $30,000 and despite a sound guy being listed in the credits, I think they didn’t really have one, they just put mics on the actors and called it a day. truly absurd movie experience.
