"Bruised hands." Check, check, check to the rest, but bruising of that kind is a condition of the elderly that can go perfectly well with being compos mentis and physically robust; it simply means you've lost a layer of fat on your hands. Please take your shots with more thought.

The Expos stadium announcer would always announce the Dodgers' Jim Lefebvre (1965–72) with a fine, even overstressed, French pronunciation. I remember him being interviewed on the Expos English broadcast saying he didn't mind, though it really was 'Lefeever.'

No one else has her way of signalling barely suppressed mocking laughter, as in Pandora's box when she's discovered backstage in the arms of ex-lover Schön (Fritz Kortner).

If you mean Clash performances, you beat me! London twice (1979 to attend a wedding, 1980), Clash once: Montreal Sep 25 1979, ahead of London Calling. They played a bunch of songs from the as-yet released album. Opening the bill an all-female band called the B-Girls (very good) and the Undertones.

If you'd asked for 'a place you've visited in the title by a band you've seen live' I would've scored that for this song! But not 'a place you've seen them in' etc.

It must have been the hat plus umbrella. Very belt and braces, in the British tradition. As for me, as I'm old and bald it's sleeves rolled down and hats.

A lot of good ones out there, but I'll go for Little Richard's "The Girl Can't Help It, featured in the opening credits of the Frank Tashlin film of the same name.

No, because I could put off my errands until tomorrow morning (at 71 you consider these things), when the forecast AQI is 3. Except for walking the dog stayed inside and read.

Gucci-gate: Canadian politics! The great Canadian thing is, it's not sacred. My mother visited it (in the 19-teens) when her non-PM Edwards cousins were its owners. It doesn't have the history of 10 Downing Street or even the White House. A new design, and even a new property, would be fine.

Was in Paris in 2023. Walked instead of biking. As a small town (Ottawa) boy I wasn't up to the challenge of 40 kph eBikes, not to mention the rest of the traffic, given that the rules for all categories there is: he who dares, wins. But you make it sound doable.

Aside from anything else, at my age I've realised that if you haven't read a book in 25 years it's about as good as never having read it. So you'll never run out of books to read.

Wim #Wenders has withdrawn his 1975 #film Falsche Bewegung from circulation. Nastassja Kinski had long objected to a topless scene shot when she was 13. Why did he act now? “The many reactions, comments, and conversations of recent days have played a significant role.” Public pressure works. #cinema

A vanilla festival bun, apparently. Alas, there's no Ole and Steen in Canada. Then again: it's "filled with vanilla cream and whipped cream, finished with a swirl of whipped cream, and white chocolate," so maybe it's for the best. Anyway, enjoy!

How two directors fought back when their film was stolen
"Butty" became "T-130": An American submitted a movie by two German film students to film festivals under his own name, and won prizes. The duo dealt with the matter in an unusual way.

Nostalgia! They no longer have borrowing slips at our public libraries. Back in the Oughts I discovered a book at a Montreal branch that hadn't been checked out since the Fifties. I didn't check it out then, but still, it was as good as finding a message in a bottle.
