Yes it is amazing and honestly 100% in my wheelhouse. It’s basically made for me. But next week they are playing in NYC the same night as Inter Arma and it’s just an incredibly distressing conflict. I can’t skip Inter Arma.

Rhododendron in NYC tonight and I am PUMPED. It is so refreshing and exciting to see young people playing music that I love instead of another helping of old bearded dudes. (Don’t worry, old bearded dudes. I am seeing Neurosis 4 times this month).

If you live somewhere without access to much great live music, hook your TV or computer up to decent speakers and go nuts. Sound quality is incredible. Diversity of genres incredible. Curation incredible.

I am not on here much anymore but I did want to stop by to say that if you love music, you need to be watching the KEXP live sessions on YouTube. The last few months of that content has been absolutely incredible. I really just can’t stress this enough. It’s crazy.

The live music conflicts in the month of October are unreasonable. Every day is Sophie’s Choice.

I am so happy Neurosis is back. It is like part of me is back.

I’m a big believer in Drunk 2 by Mannequin Pussy.

Really hoping it’s not Pig Destroyer or DEP

They were already dead to me when they kicked out Roeder but I didn’t realize Al also kicked out Matt.

Sleep without Matt Pike is a hard pass.

Up to #49 Mythic via Arena cubes. I feel like my disagreements with 17lands data are pretty minor.

Did you get to see Neurosis at least?

I have seen most of these bands many times so it isn’t a huge deal for me but at face value this is an incredible festival lineup. Plus maybe the special guest is a big one…

What a fucking magnificent song. Normally they tell you never read the comments- but the YouTube comments get this one right. Sometimes when I listen to this I feel like my life is either ending or just beginning but I don’t know or care which it is. youtu.be/hpFTSQj1wzI?...

Perfect Magic card has to make people want to play Magic. Can’t just be balanced.

I am thinking about raising money to buy Gildan and shut the whole place down.

Just got my humble 13th cube trophy by beating “alesclandre” who has 35 trophies. He was a jerk and a whiner. He cast Ancestral Recall every game and lost because he put Show and Tell in his deck and then surprise surprise sometimes I also had good things to put into play? Get fucked, nerd.

Also, because these people have been told they are smart their whole life, are incredibly busy, incredibly wealthy, and are surrounded by a combination of sycophants, leeches, and other math or rich people…they just end up in a bubble where nobody ever tells them they are wrong.

Metaling Mage @meddlingmage.bsky.social · 24/05/2026

Tech firms and trading firms are notorious for having terrible managers, because they just don’t have many people smart in the ways that make someone good at managing people.

100

Metaling Mage @meddlingmage.bsky.social · 24/05/2026

For tech places like Google, the need for math-adjacent skills is so strong that they can’t afford to screen for skills like emotional intelligence or self-awareness at all. So they end up with way fewer people than you’d expect that are thoughtful and empathetic.

There a few issues. 1) I think that while some people are sorta “generically smart”, many other people are smart in some ways and dumb in others. Our society disproportionately rewards people whose intelligences are either mathematical(Silicon Valley, finance) or social manipulators(Trump, Epstein)

I have been so sick the past two days that I went as far as taking a Covid test but as long as I can walk I will be basking in the glory of Oranssi Pazuzu in 12 hours.
