Father, Husband, Engineer, MBA. I enjoy talking about sci-fi, fantasy, and comic-book movies, but I often feel compelled to talk about the ugly subject of politics because everything seems to be falling apart.

Trump and Putin are negotiating how to divide up Ukraine between them. Why does that sound so familiar? Oh yeah, now I remember: Hitler and Stalin once held similar talks about Poland.

Trump supporters tell me to go back to my own country all the time, even though I don't live in the US. And they assume that my country is China, even though I've never been there.

Trump supporters are like the bully who kicks over a kid's sandcastle. It doesn't make the bully's life better, nor does it solve any of his problems. He might even get in trouble, but he doesn't care, because he derives such joy from ruining someone else's day. That's who Trump supporters are.

If the goal of eliminating DEI was to "restore meritocracy", then why did Trump also rescind the executive order against racial and gender discrimination? If you're sincerely just trying to hire the most qualified people, you don't need to rescind anti-discrimination orders to make that happen.

This should be posted every time some "nutrition guru" says that people ate more fatty food in the 50s and suffered no health effects from it.

When you tell a narcissistic sociopath to be kind to others, he will take that as an attack.

How long until Trump resurrects the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities?

Conservatives always think they're so clever when they pretend to be liberals for the purpose of saying that liberals agree with them. But they have so much trouble keeping that mask on for long: anyone who says "we survived the last 4 years" as if Biden was so awful is obviously a Trumper.

For years, right-wing evangelical pastors injected politics into religion, preaching Trumpism to their congregations. Two days ago, they were furious about a pastor who injected religion into politics.

I totally agree with you that it's common sense, or at least SHOULD be. But I'm afraid that recent events have led me to disagree about the movement being unstoppable. For the moment, it appears quite stoppable.

I never believed them when they said they didn't intentionally vote for racism and selfishness in 2016, but they had even less excuse for that story the second time around.

Oh great: one of those people who refuses to acknowledge that the Democrats and Republicans switched places on the race issue after the Civil Rights Act. This is like saying you can't be racist because your grandfather marched with MLK Jr.

Pete Hegseth had the gall to use the word "meritocracy" 8 times in his Senate confirmation hearing. To conservatives, "meritocracy" is code for "don't hire women and minorities". Hegseth's idea of meritocracy is actually cronyism: he's only getting the job because he's friends with the boss.

I don't know what's worse: the idea that Samuel Alito is lying during official proceedings and pretending not to know what PornHub is, or the idea that Samuel Alito planned to rule on it with no knowledge of what it is. It's like a traffic court judge asking what a car is.

There's a lot of that killjoy behaviour on the Internet now. Just look at the YouTube comments on a trailer for any upcoming Marvel movie.

Conservatives are very fond of claiming that they were driven into the arms of the far-right by liberal criticism. You know, the same way white guys joined the KKK because of Martin Luther King Jr.

Trump will be in the Oval Office on Monday, but he didn't do this alone: it was the oligarchs who put him there.

Elon Musk is the kid who wasn't allowed in the clubhouse because he can't get along with anyone, so he bought the clubhouse and covered it with pictures of himself. Now everybody wants to leave. Thanks for creating a new clubhouse, Blue Sky.

I believe the original name for this idea is "lowest common denominator".
