Has anyone seen discussion of how AI tokens being taxed as VAT (one of the most regressive tax schemes) compared to Income Tax (which is in some sense means-tested)? I think there's some juice there in terms of showing the kind of economic fairness/mobility damage swapping to "agents" rather […]

Rust was designed so that humans could write memory safe code, and yet it seems the language of choice for GenAI re-writes. Why can't GenAI write memory safe code in other languages? Think about that for a second.

@austinkelmore.com ah nah, rebase naturally exists in the DAG, the mistake was exposing it on the UX side as if it was just an alternative to merge, not a deeper tool to fix up local mistakes.

Jokes aside I have a real solution for this that I'm sad was never implemented - a rebase should just delete the user

@b0rk what I do get confused by more often than anything else is other people's *rebases* onto main tricking me into inspecting "fake" commit states in their history that never really existed for them, especially during a bisect

@b0rk I always merge, it preserves true history of the code state while I worked on it, and I find the fact the branch looks "messy" to have never in reality caused a single problem

Consider this - what if the work was assisted not by an LLM but by another person who is unable to verify what work is theirs. It would be impossible to discern that from plagiarism. But think for a second - it's this new "author" who has plagiarized the LLM. This holds for practically any […]

The second problem from this is wider, how can you judge the skill level of the developer at all? When you see someone share their AI assisted project, how do you gauge anything about the author? How do I know what to be impressed about? What do you even *say*? Nothing. There's nothing to say […]
