Although 1 in 4 older adults experiences a fall each year, only half tell their doctor. If you have experienced a fall, know that you are not alone. Check out these recommendations from the National Council on Aging to make the most of #FallsPrevention discussions with your healthcare provider.
Tips for a successful doctor’s appointment when you’re concerned about falls. Write a list of things you want to talk about including balance and falls. Ask for a falls risk assessment. Talk about specialists such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others. Be honest about concerns. Take notes and ask for doctor’s notes at the end of appointments. Ask your doctor questions, especially if you don’t understand something.

Measles is very contagious. If you suspect measles, prevent exposure by calling your doctor rather than visiting. Symptoms include a rash, fever, cough, runny nose, and red watery eyes. Learn more: health.maryland.gov/measles.

Did you know? Common symptoms of leukemia include unusual bleeding, unexplained bruises, fatigue, and frequent infections. Having these symptoms doesn't mean you have leukemia or other blood cancers, but if they last more than two weeks talk to your healthcare provider about a blood test.
