Effective immune responses rely on efficient leukocyte migration, but how does temperature regulate this process? Using #zebrafish embryos and mouse tissue explants, we show that temperature positively regulates leukocyte migration speed, exploration, and recruitment to wounds and lymph vessels 🔬
At low temperature, cells are weakly recruited with weak Myosin II activity and move slowly. At body temperature, recruitment and Myosin II activity are normal, giving normal cell speed. At fever-like temperature, recruitment and Myosin II activity are strong, resulting in fast cell movement.
