Psyching myself up.
A Contra Costa county ballot, my address obscured by a large patch bearing the text "if we fight we might lose, if we don't we've already lost".

Much easier when you grab the good thread. I still hate sleeves, but I can't deny that they have a bunch of space for sloganeering. Patch came from @ithaspockets.gay
The sleeve of my light weight jacket, with a freshly sewn on patch bearing the wheelchair user icon and the word "cripplepunk" in green embroidery.

The day I tire of this album, they'll be using a shovel to tuck me in to bed.
The cover for the 1995 album Zeitgeist, by the band Levellers. It's a smeary painting of a weird horned blue face on a yellow and orange background, in the distinctive style employed by Jeremy Cunningham, who paints Levellers album covers and plays bass and/or bouzouki on their songs, some of which he writes (but doesn't sing).

Photo for the record. It's subtle, but I can't not see it now that I know.
The head of my bass, photographed against a white background. The headstock face is painted metallic orange, with a silver "sound gear" logo, a black plastic truss rod cover that pivots open for adjustments, a black plastic nut, rosewood fretboard, and four flatwound strings with blue silks. Three of the tuning machines are a dark grey shade of shiny chrome, while the fourth is bright white shiny chrome. It's almost possible to mistake it for a trick of the light, but that tuner is definitely a different color.

It's a region of Norway, noted for said embroidery, but also for a much more complicated version of the fiddle, with extra strings that work on resonance to make accompanying drones, and inlays gone wild.
A hardanger fiddle on a wooden table top. It's clearly based on a conventional violin, but all the ebony parts have fancy pearl and bone inlays, and the head has twice as many tuning pegs as normal to account for the extra strings that it has concealed under the fingerboard.

One good thing about taking the kid to the library every day to get homework done is I get the chance to look in the friends of the library book store, and pick up some light reading for myself.
The front cover of a hardback edition of Capital in the Twenty-First Century, by Thomas Piketty. The spine of said hardback. It is a solid two inches thick, wider than the neck on my bass. I checked.

It'll benefit from a little setup work, but it's right. And it matches my car!

Starting the new label maker off right.
The corner of my monitor with an embossed tape label on it reading "PROTECT TRANS KIDS", because it's a good message and the wheel type label maker is punk as fuck.

Honestly, my most retvrn-coded opinion is we need a comeback of ridiculously extra arcade stuff. Bring back Hyperbowl!
A Hyperbowl arcade setup: four bowling alley chairs, a big screen, and a waist-high pedestal in the top of which is a full-sized bowling ball used as a trackball, to steer the onscreen ball through the wacky lanes offered.

Yay, package! You never find everything in adaptations, but this is as close as I can get to the original. Just got to wrap my head around assuming RTL reading order.
The big hardcover book I got myself, a translation of the complete The Ghost in the Shell, by Masamune Shirow.

I love Yang's cattiness about the Cat-C4.
My reliable Mech Tech, Yang, telling me I've collected enough scrapped parts to build myself a Catapult C4 variant, which has two honking great big LRM-20 launchers and basically no other offensive weapons. His considered opinion is: "Do you like LRMs? Compared to the Catapult-C1, the C4 is focused on doing one thing and doing it well. And that thing is putting a cloud of missiles in the air with two LRM-20 launchers. There's a lot you can do with this 'Mech, as long as what you want to do is shoot a lot of missiles. When it runs out of missiles, it has jump jets and reinforced leg armor."

They still make new versions of these and dammit I'm gonna blow the $20 in office supply store rewards from my kid's back to school shopping on buying myself one.
The classic turn-the-wheel plastic-embossing Dymo label maker that was SO satisfyingly TACTILE to use even as it's way less efficient and versatile than the modern ones that print out a strip of label.

You probably already knew this, but if you happen to have two mechanical pencils that are identical other than one having a different hardness of lead in it, fingerboard tape is great for marking them without making them bulky to hold.
Two identical mechanical pencils, one of which has two rings of yellow vinyl tape around it so I can tell them apart and know which is loaded with HB and which is loaded with 2B.

Let's face it, none of this is surprising.
Several CDs laid out. Two Tom Morello Nightwatchman albums, a live recording of the soundtrack for O Brother Where Art Thou, and two Angine de Poitrine.

So, it turns out that a diagnosis of dysentery is about specific features of the diarrhea, rather than a specific causative organism. Which means we might be lucky enough to deploy the good old Oregon Trail message if someone Herman Cains themselves with this.

I'll admit that the reading glasses are a touch bold, but I was primarily buying for "not breaking if I fall asleep on them" rather than exclusively on looks.
Me in my reading glasses, which are pink plastic frames with just a hint of cat-eye. I'm also wearing good studio headphones.

It's new glasses day, and honestly I'm happy that I can barely tell the difference. New ones don't need cleaning yet and came with nifty magnetic clip on sunglasses. That's about it for differences that aren't a marginal prescription update.

I was expecting the big package full of treats, but not yet the small one.
A stack of my recent extravagance on thriftbooks, consisting of several Marcus Didius Falco books I didn't already have copies of plus a couple I did, but now in not-crispy editions rather than the fragile old mass market paperbacks I'd been scared to reread due to imminent disintegration. Some cool pin badges from NerdyKeppie.com, reading "Justice is a persistence predator", "Outlive the bastards", and "Hearts starve as well as bodies. Give us bread, but give us roses.", the last with art of a loaf of bread and also roses in trans pride colors.

Everyone has forgotten the lesson of Party Cannon: stand out from the crowd.
A poster advertising "Bay Area Deathfest 2", a death metal festival. Almost all of the band logos shown are some variety of illegible cobweb bullshit that all kinda blend together and don't have any real memorability. And then there's Party Cannon, whose logo looks like the old Toys-R-Us logo, bright primary colors and backwards R included. You're not gonna forget Party Cannon.

My state flag is a bit shit, I'll concede, but it does allow for a decent identifiable Pride variant.
The front of my house, with a California flag that's had the red stripe along the bottom replaced by a rainbow, flying from a flagpole screwed to the trim. In the background is my obnoxiously orange Honda Fit, backed into the driveway all fancy-like.

Decided to support my local music store and also establish a vibe. Now the question is whether to put the new one on my purse, or stick with the jacquard skulls one I stole from my electric and put the rainbow on the guitar.
I bought myself a new guitar strap. It's rainbow.

This photo is gonna get a lot of mileage.
Da Chicago Pope, standing in the aisle of an airplane, and holding a baseball bat with the air of someone who knows how to use it. It was probably a gift, but he really looks like someone who's about to have some very blunt words with whoever just stole his window seat.

Don't know exactly what model number this is, but I'd be a bit nervous driving a vehicle that's literally knee height in modern traffic.
A street parked Porsche thingy, one of the old ones, with the wide 5 wheels and the Volkswagen ancestry. The only badge on it says "Spyder". It's very low to the ground. Like, "driving around on a skateboard" low. Not even as tall as the wheel of the pickup it's parked next to.

Post a logo, emblem, or title (with its original font) that remains as perfect today as when it was new. Some days, I wake up and I choose violence.
The old Guitar Center logo, using a guitar as the G, that caused countless meltdowns on the internet when they changed it to have an actual G.

Managed to make some space for the shiny discs and their annoyingly large boxes.
A row of DVDs, on a bookshelf. Messy, but at least accessible. The titles, for sickos: Ghost in the Shell (the anime film, not the live action with ScarJo), the Jurassic Park collection, Blade Runner 2049, the director's cut of Hellboy (2004), the sci-fi channel miniseries Dune and Children of Dune, Orphan Black, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Pan's Labyrinth, the main line Mad Max movies, Pacific Rim, the three seasons of Deadwood, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. My tastes range widely and frequently include stuff that's generally regarded as a bit crap.

So I was at one of my local Pride events this weekend, and basically all the stalls had variations on this sticker, including the ones run by healthcare providers. Really encouraging.
My reusable water bottle with a sticker of a rainbow shape in trans pride colors and the slogan "PROTECT TRANS KIDS". Also visible is the bottom of a sticker with the text "THE TREE IS THIRSTY" but that's not the one I'm talking about.

The obnoxious Bible thumpers at Pride ain't keeping up with the meta. Dude just accused all us queers with our profusion of "protect trans kids" stuff of wanting to read Harry Potter. Only reason nobody laughed is nobody else is listening to him.
Yup, I pulled out the knee length Chucks with the neon rainbow laces again. Did you know they made these bad boys in size 13?

My county has just the worst, most generic stickers ever.
My county's "I voted!" sticker, a circle with a little American flag in it and a thick dark blue border with the text "I voted!" in English, Spanish, and Chinese. No whimsy allowed.

Trying to decide whether I want to go straight to remaking the plastic bit of the headband in real leather. It's easily removable, and making a template is probably a good idea...

Well that's a bit of a pisser. And I've checked, the manufacturer doesn't sell parts. I'm about done with closed back gaming headsets at this point, though, got a set of open back reference headphones on order.
The back of the right ear cup off my gaming headset, kind of broken and coming apart. Seems like build quality is just not there any more.

Super jealous of this guy. What a unit.
Some lucky guy has gotten hold of a vintage eMac, the low-cost educational market successor to the original iMac. It is a huge chonky CRT based white wedge of a computer, and this guy has the extremely rare plexiglass stand for it as well. The full-sized keyboard next to it shows that it is a ridiculously huge machine, and I remember it being super huge and incredibly heavy.

There's no rule that your tastes have to be internally consistent, and it's more fun if they aren't. Here's today's haul.
The spines of 5 CDs that I got at Rasputin's: Piece of Mind and Powerslave by Iron Maiden, Diesel and Dust by Midnight Oil, and Joyride and Look Sharp! by Roxette.
