Genuine question... When he does that, what does he call it? Obviously in his head he's not saying "That's not going in - I'll just cheat this a little." I'd love to know what he does say to himself to justify clear cheating.

Good for you (genuinely). I'm only defending Garron Noone here. I think what he was saying was mistaken for an anti-immigrant rant. He's saying (IMO), that people are being duped, which is what you are saying. And it's because it correlates ("not causation" ) with their lived experience.

The C's are not a minority. They just don't traditionally vote (but that's changing). I'm sorry - but more and more, I am seeing (somewhat) sensible people that I know spouting this nonsense. And we ignore them at our peril. We don't need to agree with them - but we need to deal to their concerns.

David McNerney @mcnerneyd.bsky.social · 22/03/2025
That is why I would defend Garron Noone. (I think he's actually a B - but he should stay away from the politics). He's calling out the problem - and we need to do something about it. We need to says to the C's, we hear your fears - but they are unfounded - and here's why...

David McNerney @mcnerneyd.bsky.social · 22/03/2025
It doesn't help that at the same time as this immigration has happened, we've had wars, housing crises, financial crises, pandemics ... four horsemen crap. The D's are pouring poison into the C's ears - and they are buying it. Why shouldn't they? The B's are dismissing their fears.
100
David McNerney @mcnerneyd.bsky.social · 22/03/2025
For the last 15 years, I've seen it. The Dickheads in D have been exploiting these fears and working them up. And those of us in B - we have failed them. We haven't reached out and said "You don't need to be afraid". We haven't helped them not to be afraid. Things will be okay.
110
David McNerney @mcnerneyd.bsky.social · 22/03/2025
And now to C. This is where the problem, and these are this is what I think Garron was talking about. These people are ordinary people who are afraid - they are worried about their jobs, the safety, their homes. Let's call it what it is, they are afraid because of ignorance.

David McNerney @mcnerneyd.bsky.social · 22/03/2025
D is for Dickheads: Trump, Musk, McGregor, Hitler, Putin, the KKK, the National Party etc etc The despise anyone that is not like them. The do that because they are insecure and no that they contribute so little to society that if we figured it out we'd have nothing to do with them...

David McNerney @mcnerneyd.bsky.social · 22/03/2025
Me personally, I'm in B. I like immigrants. Primarily I think we have an obligation to help our fellow humans who are suffering. But on top of that, I feel they add to our culture and they provide much needed input to our economy. Some of them are problematic - but sure that's universally true.

See this picture, it's a normal distribution curve. I nicked it from Wikipedia and added some letters. We are all in there somewhere - depending on what issue it represents. Most of us (98%) are in B+C. For my purpose here - this represents what we think of immigrants.
Normal Distribution curve with letter A, B, C and D added in blocks of 2 standard deviations.

In defence of Garron Noone: follow me on this, it might not be delicious but it's important. And if we don't figure this out, we are literally all screwed. When he made his video - I kinda thought "dodgy" but I think I get where he's coming from. Bear with me on this... including the maths.

Musk, Trump & Vance are role models that can teach us important life lessons. Musk shows us that our insecurities cannot be resolved with money. And Trump/Vance show us that just because someone shouts you down doesn't make you less of a hero, or them less of a coward.

I have to say, I think this captures the essence of what happened. Trump/Vance knew peace was "unattainable" because of Russian intransigence and they needed to pick a fight so they could point the finger elsewhere and not look like losers. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Kamala Harris didn't say the "riots must continue", she said the "protests will continue". There's a difference: one is a breakdown of law and order, the other is a fundamental duty of every citizen in a democratic society; standing against oppression. I think Captain America would approve.
