McNastyface @mcnastyface.bsky.social · 08/08/2026When I first moved to Australia I was absolutely baffled by sports reports on the radio news, when presenters would launch into a match report using only the nicknames of the teams and not even mentioning what sport they were talking about. Roy and GH absolutely nail this. 030 3

McNastyface @mcnastyface.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Even the "ideologically captured academics" you fear should ensure that the basic rules of academic integrity are followed. It's perfectly valid to critique a thesis on the basis of its ideas/methods/conclusions, but it becomes indefensible if it was just copied from someone else's work. 050 5
McNastyface @mcnastyface.bsky.social · 31/07/2026It is unfortunate that this issue was brought to the public's attention by those with a nefarious agenda, however a cursory look at some of the evidence suggests that Arday did *not* quote and cite sources appropriately. At the very least there should be proper investigation. 000 0
McNastyface @mcnastyface.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Retraction Watch also wrote about it. The plagiarismtoday one misses some of the issues around fabrication/falsification of data that really need a careful examination. 010 1
McNastyface @mcnastyface.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I think this article misses some of the other issues with Arday's work, where there appears to be fabricated data, as outlined by retraction watch. So yeah, the motives of some of his accusers look very suspect, but... 110 1
McNastyface @mcnastyface.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I think you might be backing the wrong horse here GLP. While it is unfortunate that this issue is being pushed by people with an agenda, the academic evidence against Arday appears quite convincing. 3680 68
