You know I felt something was missing from the OP's visuals, and it's present here in the wind waker: The part of the boat that goes under water gets darker, like a shadow to show the waterline. I think it adds a a lot.

You can't grade from 0 to 255, sRGB, if all you see is something like 65-200 and wonky colors because the room's furniture has a tinted reflection. It's like trying to mix music in the middle of a highway because that's where people listen to the radio.

As someone in the audiovisual industry, that's a rookie trap. Working in ideal conditions gives good results in as many situations as possible since you have the tools to see issues with your image. Bad conditions hide stuff, and even if it looks good on that setup it might be trash on another.

Genuinely curious what games you're playing that are too dark. I haven't had an issue with image brightness since my xbox360 and CRT wouldn't play nice. Is it mainly horror games?

Have you looked into color space issues? If you can see it but it's too dark for viewers, your streaming software might be converting from Full RGB to Limited, which makes the image extra saturated and contrasty.

Everything looks miles better, except for the main character that kinda lost some charm. The animation can both be faster than v1 AND hold key poses longer to emulate old noodley animation. I also think the washed out palette was neat, maybe too washed out, but neat :D Kudos and gambatte!
