We cannot mark 250 years of American history without telling the whole story. Last weekend at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, we honored the Lincoln Park community and generations who fought for civil rights, dignity and equality. We’ve come a long way, but we still have work to do.

Yesterday, I joined the County Council and others to celebrate Montgomery County’s 250th anniversary. We have a history to be proud of, but also a history we need to learn from. The question now is what kind of County we want to build for the next 250 years.
