Another gorgeous fall day in the PNW. One person really hurt my feelings today, and looking back over these photos, I realized I need to focus on the amazing and the beautiful. And the kind people and the caring souls. And take the lesson the sour pants gave me, and move on.

The only time I miss twitter/x is when I am getting screwed by a company. Social media pressure is the only way to get anywhere. Dominion Energy reinstated service on a closed account 8 years after I sold the house, and their dispute process found that yes, I am responsible for someone else’s bill.

It was surreal. A lot of people thought it was firecrackers at first. When we emerged from our hiding spot, we saw a couple cops standing around, and they seemed casual. Not giving directions or telling ppl to leave. So I thought maybe it really was just a prank. It was nothing like I’d expect.

We were there, with our East Coast visitors and our kids. We were singing the praises of Seattle and the glory of this food fest, then this. It was all very surreal. Still processing, but so thankful for our safety while so heart broken for those harmed or killed, and their loved ones.

Even in the short aftermath, when we were trying to get back to our friends and not sure how to, people had started to mill around again. Some were saying what I thought, probably fire crackers. The police we could see were standing around, not giving instructions or telling people to move out.

I was there. I first thought it was firecrackers. None of what I expected to happen happened. No one was screaming at first, no one yelled gun. I was scared of the panic more than anything. I’ve always been told to stay calm so I did. Cops weren’t running in or yelling. It was very surreal.

Took my out of town guests with our 2 teens. Raved about how amazing Seattle is. “Look at all the people! Everyone is so chill!” Then this happened and we got separated in the panic. Even after, I downplayed it, because there was so very little police activity. I kept saying it must be a prank. Ugh

Yes. I don’t feed, because I live across the sound where there is an abundance of wild animals and if you feed one, soon you’ve got a bear problem. But I put out water, let them eat freely out of my garden, and generally try to respect their right to exist.

1st orca sighting was exciting! We left Anacortes and within 10 minutes, the T090 pod appeared. They hugged the island for a full loop and we were able to watch them leisurely for hours. We also saw harbor seals, stellar sea lions, and eagles. #orcas #killerwhales #biggs #pnw#whales

Highlights from #nokings #bremerton today! Thank you to the ppl in the Lexus passing out flags, to the lovelies tossing kit kats, and to the “dirty hippie church” group that kept me company! My favorite sign of the day was the whoppers every damn day! And my favorite car was this blue beauty!
