Think I've had enough of humans, my darlings. Bastards have trashed everything worthwhile, and all that's left is shite. Confrontation everywhere we look. Fascism is the new normal. Neo-Nazis in the streets of Dover and Portsmouth. Give me animals & flowers. No gods, no tribes, no flags. Just peace.

Do we really need words anymore? People use them as weapons now. Hasn't everything worth saying been said already?

On 16 September 1962 I excitedly wrote in my diary "Tomorrow is Denise's party." On the 17th I wrote "Today is Denise's party," on the 18th "Yesterday was Denise's party" & on the 19th "The day before yesterday was Denise's party." Happy 70th birthday today, Denise, wherever you may be.

Such a pity Jeffrey & Ghislaine weren't there too. They would have been right at home, wouldn't they?

I'm sure friends & colleagues of murdered non-rabble-rousers Jo Cox & David Amess - neither of whose supporters ever used violence against their opponents - will be even less impressed than the rest of us by Nigel Farage's regular whingeing about being assaulted.

I know it's a cliché and it's #caturday but I met this wee smasher on the way to the shop, & again on the way back, and she made me happy. So here's her photo.
Young ginger & white kitty on a fence, with whiskers pointing forwards to show she'd like some love, please.

St Columba's Well, which is good to know. The well is in the woods by the village of Kirkcolm, which, of course, means Church of St Columba, just as Kirkcudbright is Church of St Cuthbert and Kirkcowan Church of St Couan. As far as I know there is no St By, St Lees or St Bymoorside.
It's an ancient well, in a wood.

Gardening. It's great for mental health. In fact, take your best orgasm, multiply it by 1000 and.....well, you know the rest.
It's late autumn, and while other flowers are losing their sparkle & dying, fuchsias, like these pink ones, are continuing to bloom.More pink beauties. Dianthus Pink Kisses. They were beautiful in June, died away to nothing in July, and now, after a good deadheading, are back again almost as good as new.

Community allotment in the outrageously pretty village of Auchencairn. I wouldn't mind, would you?
Plots in the allotments, including a polytunnel full of goodies.
Lots of greenery against a blue sky.

At least they got it right this time. Let's celebrate the arrest of the Tates and look forward to their return to the UK to face trial for multiple serious offences.

On the north side of the Solway Firth you can see many a statue of Robert the Bruce. On the south side King Edward Longshanks stares back across the water. It wasn't just the Scots that Edward disliked, mind. On 18 July 1290 he issued an order expelling all of England's 16,000 Jews.

That's better! Those self-seeded poppies in my garden. Where did they come from?
Foreground. Pinky purple poppies in front of a holly bush.
Chimney pot behind with a few straggly flowers in it.

My front steps looked lovely on Saturday morning. Not so by the evening after a gale blew the flowers all over the garden and snapped the cosmos in half. Anyway, hello again darlings. Nice to be back.
Pre-gale. Front steps decorated with blooms of pink, white, orange, yellow and purple.

Achieved Nirvana today. Eating rhubarb pudding & drinking coffee in the sunshine, in a beautiful garden in my favourite town with my beloved by my side and this fluffy cat rubbing my leg. Wonderful. Came home to find neo-Nazis had shoved one of their grubby shitty leaflets through my letter box!
Fluffy haired ginger and white puss in the garden of Buns & Bakes, Wigtown.

You there! Stop fighting and start enjoying some spring wild flowers, like these...
Wood sorrel. Wee white flowers with pink stripes.Three cornered leeks. White with green stripes, they have triangular stems and smell like onions.

Is it a swan, or the product of a bird's bahookie?

Our South of Scotland fascist masquerading as an environmentalist is former BNP treasurer and Holocaust denier Max Dunbar. Last seen infiltrating a march with a sign reading Stop the Gaystapo, thereby insulting and annoying Trans activists and TERFs alike. The real Gestapo would have loved him.

A special treat for people who like clouds, water & daffodils.
A blue sky with lots of clouds over St Andrews harbour yesterday afternoon.
Not a day to take a boat out. Don't be fooled by the sunshine!
