agents are still too "dumb" to have a human in the loop for getting work done. their lack of knowledge requires them to try a bunch of different things to gather context. add guardrails and remove yourself from the implementation loop. let go.

for personal projects, i honestly really enjoy having an ai "colleague" to learn from. i learn more faster than i did before my problem w/ ai is the expectations that it brings in terms of pace and capabilities. i learn less than i did before. learning is less of the goal. it's about doing now.

one final thought is that the sense for when an abstraction is called for and when it’s premature *is* in many ways something you learn in a world where writing code takes time. if you can generate the abstraction for “free” by telling claude to, you don’t end up ask yourself if it’s necessary…
