I rode my bike ALL over ghent in my tweens in the early nineties, even down to waterside, and had been roving over an equivalent area in Roanoke in the years before that. But I can’t imagine letting our ten year old do that now, even though Richmond 2026 is demonstrably safer than Norfolk 1991.

I sing (by default be of my ability to remember lyrics mostly) a lot of that type of mater in our sets, and unless those words are necessary to scanning/rhyme scheme they get dropped — which is the same policy. I take toward any AAVE pronunciations as well.
