Saddened this evening to learn of the passing of Jim Cooper, the founder of JL Cooper Electronics. Here is a photo of my near mint condition Fadermaster. True of everything I’ve ever seen from JL Cooper, this was built to last for decades, and it has. My condolences to his family and friends.

While my stay at @microsoft.com Build 2025 was brief, attending the keynote was compelling. The vision for an Open Agentic Web is powerful, and that infrastructure (MCP) is already largely in place is significant. It's interesting to consider the potential applications for music creation.

At the NAMM Show with Roland Future Design Lab, I was deeply honoured to accept a MIDI Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of my friend, the legendary Tadao Kikumoto-san.

Having now been for myself, I can understand how Trip-hop came from Bristol. A very special place. #bristol

Years ago when I was playing synths live and arguably in the golden age of MIDI, I was heavily into routing and mapping in my live rig, first using a Yamaha MEP-4 and then the amazing Axxess MIDI Mapper. Today I received my H4MIDI WC and I am right back into that world, for pennies! #MIDI #synths

I don't go to too many concerts right now but I hope that's going to change next year. A standout for me this year was seeing Justice at the Hollywood Bowl with my son. Amazing performance, iconic venue, and... my son. #justicemusic #hollywoodbowl

ADC 2024 was wonderful. Great conference, warm and engaged community, and a perfectly charming setting in Bristol, U.K. (where we witnessed Christmas coming to life each night!). Roland Future Design Lab will be back..
