All people of good conscience should condemn today’s actions by the Trump administration and call on Congress to hold Donald Trump to account for this illegal act. “The Congress shall have Power . . . to declare war” U.S. Constitution Article I Section 8. [6/6]

The constitution gives congress the authority to declare war NOT the president. This is not only a dangerous violation of laws and norms that threatens the world, but it also further moves our country towards the danger of having an authoritarian dictator with unchecked power. [5/6]

We still have troops stationed in Iraq to this very day. Today’s actions put the lives of many Americans in jeopardy alongside those of the 30 million people who live in Venezuela. This military action is not just in violation of international law but violates U.S. law as well. [4/5]

In 2003 the Bush administration sent us to war in Iraq under false pretenses. We were told that it was going to be an “easy war” that we’ll be out in a matter of weeks if not days. Thousands of Americans died in that conflict, alongside up to a million Iraqis. [3/5]

For the second time in my life a Republican administration instituted a foreign regime change for oil. Today Donald Trump unilaterally ordered bombings in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, putting the city’s 5 million residents in danger and threatening to destabilize the country. [2/5]

Today I joined a group of my neighbors in Bartlett to protest the Trump administration’s illegal military actions in Venezuela. [1/5]

When I decided to run for this seat, I made a promise to myself to refuse the type of dark corporate money that has taken over our elections so our campaign could be independent. Thanks to the support I have received from small-dollar donors so far, that promise is becoming a reality. [3/4]

With your help, we were able to raise the funds needed for campaign materials for the primary and donate a box of food 🥫 to the Roselle Community Food Pantry. [2/3]
