'It's just locker room talk' Otoh, I've wondered if any Ai would be able to perceive that donald trump is the most pressing, core problem right now. And I doubt any would, because Ai is stupendously inefficient gigo crap.

Thanks for refreshing those details. I did recall the controversy, but since the op was unsourced, just tested the Powell case and found it to be false, and other factchecking sites also pronouncing it false. And yet, even now the white nationalist vandalism still shows in 'notable' categories.

Election denial is voter suppression. This is exactly why blueanon claims of election hacking are so destructive. It can't be a 'rigged' election any time your candidate loses, but all good when they win. That is trump's lie.

Going lower when they go low, or fuck up in some way, is a choice. I don't think it's as effective as actually demolishing the real policy he is advocating. In fact it helps to obscure it, and how awful it is. The Iran nuke fearmongering has always been a total lie. Our confusion gives it a pass.

No, the small price is high gas. You are being obtuse.
000
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 23h
Right, trump does not want US cities to be nuked by Iran. First, he claims to have eliminated their ability to do so, right? He claims the war was necessary, and high gas is a small price to pay - for what? For removing the imminent threat of Iran nukes. Opposite of your claim.
010
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 23h
That ship sailed in 2016. He's always spoken this way. Of course he should be removed for a hundred various reasons. But 'inviting' or 'calling for' Iran to nuke US cities is not among them, because he did not do that.
030
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
That makes no sense, even from within trump's depraved pov. It's bad enough he uses real US cities as rhetorical nuclear sacrifices, to justify his catastrophic war. But his claim is that he prevented such attacks, not that Iran should now nuke those cities, a capacity he also claims to have ended.

George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Trump was not inviting Iran to nuke LA or SD. His entire rationale for the war is that it had to be done to PREVENT Iran from nuking us. (which is insane and false) Annotated the quote, to fill in the unstated gaps in trump's typical confusing syntax. approx:"$5 gas is worth it to stop Iran nukes"
And again, remember with the war, it's just artificial.

[GAS is] a little bit high. [High Gas is] a small price to pay, for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe [by attacking Iran and denying them nuclear weapons].

[IF Iran] can take out a city. Let 'em take, [for example] let it, let 'em take out Los Angeles. Let 'em take out San Diego. [THEN we got real trouble, compared to these trivial fuel prices]

That's, this [High Gas] is a very small price to pay [to prevent Iran from nuking the US]. And it's going to be over with very soon.

It's the same exact line he and Bibi have given to justify the war since he launched it. "Iran can't have a nuke, they're lunatics, they would use it..." and this time he just added specific cities to the same nuclear fearmongering. Same as Condi Rice and her mushroom cloud.
200
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Not at all. He's making a coherent point, in his usual manner. And he clearly understands what he's saying. It's Bibi's line of BS about Iran. The same thing trump's been parroting since launching the attack, only this time [outrageously] adding specific city names to the nuclear fearmongering.
110
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Agree to disagree then. The nonsensical offering of US cities to nuke defeats his entire rationale for attacking Iran. His disgusting crowd of stupid and depraved magats reacted the way they did because they too misunderstood his intent. Took it somehow as a partisan laugh-line, which it was not.
100
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
The city names are whatever popped into his brainpan on the fly. SD is a military town. None of it makes any sense when misread as "gas is high, but let Iran nuke California!" What he meant is "gas is high, but it's worth it - to avoid Iran nuking US." Read correctly, it's lies and fearmongering.
300
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
He was dead serious. And NOT inviting nuclear attack. The language was typically reckless and offensive, in the service of a lie - that high gas is worth it to stop iran nukes. 🤷 Same rationale bibi sold him, and which he's often repeated. Now added city names to the same nuclear fearmongering.
360
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
He was not joking. And he was not inviting nuclear attack either. He's trying to fearmonger, retroactively, that he had to attack, or else Iran would have nuked us. THAT is offensive and false. He minimizes the damage - high gas, and exaggerates the threat, Iranian nukes. To deflect blame for war.
1132
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
trump suggests that high gas prices are worth it to *prevent* Iran from nuking the US.
000
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
High gas prices - are the small price to pay. For *preventing* Iran nukes. That's been the bibi rationale all along and he's simply repeating it again here, with insanely reckless speech. It's rotten enough without misinterpreting trump's malignant intent. Which is to deflect blame for his war.
000
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Not a joke. He meant the exact opposite. ('High gas is worth it to stop Iran nukes') His face was in severe threat mode as he said it. Crowd completely misread it.

George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
The crowd is stupid and depraved.
040
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Reckless deplorable rhetoric for sure. But no invitation to nuke a US city was intended, despite the literal misreading of the speech. Just the opposite. Deflecting blame as always, trump minimized the pain ($5 gas), and exaggerated the threat, of Iran nuking the US.
010
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
High gas prices is a small price to pay, for *preventing* Iran nuking the US. Horrible enough, and false enough, without twisting what he intended to say.
020
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
That refers to high gas prices. Which is awful enough. He's saying 'shuddup with your whining, peasants. $5 gas is nothing compared to Iran nuking the US. Which is what my idiot war has prevented.' It's all insulting lies, and recklessly glib nuclear fearmongering. To excuse himself from blame.
010
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Correct. The national pile-on over a completely obtuse, literal misreading of what trump meant, is annoying af. He means it's worth spendy gas to prevent iran from nuking us. Which is a lie, and disgustingly glib, but it was not an invitation for Iran to nuke LA. FFS.
010
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Yes, as in, 'compared to high gas prices', his attack on Iran was worth it, to avoid Iran nuking us. It's Bibi's nuclear fear mongering for preemptive war. There is no other reason for trump to invoke, exactly like condi rice did to justify bush's war, a mushroom cloud. Same as "I had no choice".
200
George Smiley @mc2020.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
In trump's manner of speech, you have to infer and read between words. As in this case. He did clearly mean - 'you think $4 gas is tough? Compare it to Iran nuking the US.', thus, I had to attack when I did, and the cost is worth it. Total BS. But it's obtuse to insist on the literal misreading.
