Thank you 😊 @sarahbuddery.bsky.social has plans for me and I have no idea what they are 😅

Martin @mbudds.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Watched celebrity #Traitors properly for the first time since it started for a second series last night, and I'm now completely hooked. Not sure why I was so against it all this time. It's so entertaining

I was literally just thinking the other day how long it's been since I last watched this masterpiece 🖤 I still haven't fully accepted that Anne Rice is really no longer among us 😭

Happy birthday for yesterday! Sorry I missed it. It's my 40th tomorrow! I'm getting so old 😭🙈

How can it be the 10th film anniversary of #LaLaLand already? Nope. Not possible. Don't believe it! It can't possibly be true.

Shocked to wake up early this morning to the sad news of Hayden Panettiere passing away! She was only 36. Heroes was my favourite show when I was at uni and proudly wore my "Save the cheerleader, save the world" t-shirt everywhere

Of course it's not Schindler or Amistad. Neither of them are sci-fi alien films.. 🤷

It might be that I don't really care for Marvel anymore but the first full trailer for #AvengersDoomsday left me feeling so underwhelmed. Literally everyone is in it!

themovienerdstrikesback.wordpress.com/2026/07/19/i... new blog post in almost 5 years. Not that the post I expected to write but I felt compelled to write some thoughts and feelings over the death of one my biggest film heroes x

In Memory of Sam Neill (1947-2026)

Earlier this week, we sadly lost one of the greatest and most down-to-earth actors on earth, after beating cancer only three months ago. Sam Neill wasn’t just a talented actor. He was also a …

This could be one of the richest years of Frightfest yet... LFG!!

Reshared from my Facebook. It's going to take me a long time to get over this one. Sam Neill will be sorely missed by millions. The list of films he appeared in, and which he helped elevate with his brilliant performances, we're endless. I'm honestly heartbroken 💔

That being said, his recent directorial efforts have sadly dipped in quality. At the age of 96, it's probably the right time for him to retire. But what a film legacy he's left behind, for all of us to still enjoy after all of these years.

Sad to hear that Clint Eastwood has officially retired from filmmaking. He's made some absolute masterpieces over the last fifty decades, as an actor/director such as; Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Flags of Our Fathers/Letters From Iwo Jima, and many, many more.

Apart from two big sci-fi movies this year (Project Hail Mary and Disclosure Day), #Digger will probably be my first non-horror cinema trip of 2026 😂

Martin @mbudds.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

I can't believe it's been just over 10 years since we lost Anton Yelchin. What a great actor he was! He was even younger than Heath Ledger when he died. It still hurts 😢

You definitely should have kept it!

I must have been living under a rock this whole time, as I only realised until tonight that a sequel to The Social Network directed by Aaron Sorkin, is coming out this year!

Sorry but do you feel like you have to "correct" and "shame" me like that? That's just pathetic

Martin @mbudds.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

This one didn't get much of a marketing campaign from what I can remember. I saw it getting advertised once or twice, maybe, but then never reached the only cinema close to me. Coen brothers can be really hit and miss these days.

Watched #Barbarian for a second time and enjoyed it a lot more. Still think the ending is a bit silly but everything leading up to it was excellent 👍

I just finished watching A Woman Under The Influence by John Cassavettes for the very first time. It was such a mesmerising and brilliant film, but at the same time it was a movie experience that I don't think I'd be able to sit through and watch again for a very long time.

...and just not a very nice human being. He needs to remember that his own fans got him where he is today. Sure, he's a great actor but fame and fortune doesn't mean he should be passive aggressive IRL.

So many people are defending Russell Crowe on social media right now over his angry rant with an outside crowd seeking signed autographs. I get how hordes of fans wanting movie memorabilia, can be really pushy and impatient but on the other hand, Crowe has always been rude, arrogant...

Almost finished reading Hannibal Rising. It's by far the weakest in the series but not completely without merit. A lot of exposition into how Hannibal became the infamous monster that became such a big part of popular culture. Probably the only main highlight tbh...
