The HVO coal mine expansion, just approved by the NSW IPC, will now need federal environmental approval. Join us in telling @albomp.bsky.social that Australians want coal, oil and gas corporations to pay for the damage they have caused—not cause more climate distraction. #MakeBigPollutersPay

More cost-of-living pain for Australian families on the way. Why don't the coal, oil, and gas corporations responsible for making our food, homes, and groceries more expensive by driving climate impacts have to pay for the damage they are causing? #MakeBigPollutersPay

Thank you, Antonio Guterres for using your final UN General Assembly speech to urge governments to make big coal, oil, and gas corporations pay for the climate damage they have caused, and to urge the communities working to hold big polluters accountable to keep going. ✊ #MakeBigPollutersPay

Treasury’s #IntergenerationalReport carries a stark warning: climate change will hit our homes, jobs, food, insurance and public finances in coming decades. Communities shouldn’t be left to foot the bill alone. Coal, oil & gas corporations should pay for their climate damage. #MakeBigPollutersPay

New research from @climatecouncil.org.au finds more than 267,000 Australian properties could be at risk by the end of the century, with damages estimated at $855 billion. Big polluters should pay for the climate damage they cause—not the rest of us. #MakeBigPollutersPay

Great to see Spain call for an EU climate adaptation fund, financed by a levy on oil and gas corporations. ¡Bravo! It's common sense to make the fossil fuel corporations responsible for causing climate change pay for the damage they caused. #MakeBigPollutersPay www.ft.com/content/86da...

After catastrophic climate-supercharged floods, Nepal is absolutely right to demand that those who have contributed most to the climate crisis should help shoulder the costs of the damage. As a major polluter, Australia must step up on climate finance ahead of #COP31 and #MakeBigPollutersPay.

Experts say extreme hot and dry conditions will raise grocery prices over the next year. Why are Australians copping this climate bill while coal, oil, and gas corporations rake in billions? It's not fair. Big polluters must be made to pay into a Climate Compensation Fund. #MakeBigPollutersPay

Families are paying more to rebuild, repair and insure their homes after climate disasters, new @insurancecouncilau.bsky.social report shows. Meanwhile, the biggest polluters wrecking our climate continue to profit. That doesn't pass the fairness test. It's time to #MakeBigPollutersPay

A climate disaster could cost Nepal the equivalent of 10% of its economy. The Loss and Damage Fund exists for moments like this. But it doesn't have nearly enough money to meet the need. Australia and wealthy nations must #MakeBigPollutersPay and fill the fund.

Climate-fuelled heatwaves and droughts are causing an "unprecedented" crisis for EU farmers, with plummeting vegetable production and livestock facing heat stress. EU Governments have pledged costly aid packages to help the sector. Coal, oil, and gas polluters should be paying this climate bill.

Destroyed homes, soaring insurance, forced relocations, and more: climate change-fuelled sea level rise and coastal flooding are costing communities and local governments millions. The coal, oil, and gas corporations driving the climate crisis should be paying for these costs—not the rest of us.

The Canadian federal government is sending assistance to British Columbia as it battles 100+ fires, exacerbated by climate change. This funding for emergency shelter and accommodation is coming from public money—coal, oil, and gas corporations should be paying these climate costs instead.

While tens of thousands of people across the world were losing their homes, livelihoods and loved ones to climate-fueled disasters and war, oil giants were raking in more than $700,000 every. single. minute. This is absolutely indefensible. Big polluters must be made to pay.

Heatwaves, drought and fires are making farming “virtually impossible” in parts of the world, and driving up food prices. While coal, oil and gas giants are making billions, communities are suffering the economic impact. This isn't fair. Big polluters should pay for climate damage—not us.

While the Australian public is bearing $38 billion/year costs to our economy, fossil fuel corporations are paying little to no tax on their $436 billion profits. 🤯 The unfairness is staggering. Polluters should be paying for the climate destruction they cause—not the rest of us.
Infographic reading: Climate disasters cost the Australian economy $38 billion per year. That's $3800 per household. By 2060, these costs will rise to at least $73 billion per year. In 2023-2024, one in three coal, oil and gas corporations paid no corporate income tax. Overall, the fossil fuel industry paid just 5% of its $436 billion reported income in corporate income tax.
