1/ Yesterday, we joined Rabbis for Human Rights and Bnei Avraham to erect protective fencing around Palestinian homes in Jannatah, southeast of Bethlehem. The fence was intended to help protect Palestinian families who have endured repeated attacks and intimidation by violent Israeli settlers.

This is Kareem Shalaldeh. He was 17 years old when he was shot dead on Friday, near Sa'ir in the southern West Bank. He was shot after Israeli settlers entered the area, which is part of Area B, for a “hike” after settlers earlier set a building near the village on fire. (1/6)

1/ This is what dehumanization looks like. Not seeing Palestinians as people with families, fears, and dreams — but as numbers and targets that can be killed. Once you convince yourself that an entire people are somehow less human, there is no limit to the violence you can justify against them.

Dozens of our activists and activists from other organizations are in Qusra, standing with Palestinian families besieged by violent Israeli settlers. Despite attempts by the Israeli army to block the aid, the activists succeeded in delivering urgently needed food and basic supplies to the families.

Israeli settlers are harassing a Palestinian family of four by setting up camp outside their home, sometimes joined by Israeli soldiers. Settlers targeting the area isn’t new, but the harassment has increased to include cutting off electricity and essentially trapping them inside. (14/)

Statement from the Manitoba Friends of Standing Together on the despicable attack on the Rahma Islamic Centre.

The Manitoba Friends of Standing Together are are shocked and disgusted by the violence perpetrated at the Rahma Islamic Centre last night. That the centre was attacked while worshippers were inside, after threatening remarks had been made to worshippers earlier in the day, is abhorrent.
We are grateful that no one was injured.

These hateful acts against any group cannot be normalized. All people have the right to live with dignity and without fear. To stigmatize people as being "other" is to deny their essential humanity.
As a collective of Jews, Muslims, Christians, and allies, the Manitoba Friends of Standing Together condemn hateful violence in all its forms.
