Is the Premier League so broken by this that there might need to be serious conversations about disbanding the Premier League altogether if City are somehow allowed to remain? A positive offshoot of doing this would also be to look at how match officials are governed.

Where I struggle with our transition difficulties is that we have been overjoyed in Europe when teams come out at us and we’ve moaned about PL teams applying a deep block we have to unpick. If we were better technically yesterday we could’ve exploited Brightons tactics. Most days we would have.

Teams aren’t going to roll over for us all season long and some days we will get outplayed as we did today. We have become very used to being unhappy with our attack when our defence sees us through but today we see how it is when our defensive unit isn’t up to scratch.

As usual there’s no real analysis of the situation. When attacking for a corner we fill space in front of, around, or behind the keeper. We can do that because of the consistent accuracy of the crosses. The defender team are ones trying to push into that space, blocking runs and grappling.

Reading the moaning about ‘where is the beautiful football? Where is the dribbling, take ons etc?’ It was stifled when teams went to low blocks and were happy to stay goalless as long as possible and maybe nick a goal. Thats a tactical masterclass though……

Haha I suspected Saka would play into this argument. What’s unrealistic is fans who want progression, growth, success etc but don’t want their favourite players to be challenged. Has Saka reached his peak? We would hope not. Will he realistically reach that peak without being challenged? Maybe not.
