Today we closed the encampment at Pig's Eye Park. This was a difficult day for our community — and a responsibility we carried with care. To everyone living at this site who engaged with our outreach teams, and to the HART, CARES, and Familiar Faces workers who showed up day after day: thank you.

The City of Saint Paul and community partners celebrated the grand opening of the renovated South Saint Anthony Park play area and athletic courts earlier in July with a ribbon cutting and remarks from community leaders. This project was funded by the Common Cent 1% Sales Tax.

I’m pleased to see the Supreme Court uphold birthright citizenship. But I’m sad to see they also decided to uphold laws banning transgender girls from school sports teams. Our strength comes from neighbors of every background. I’m committed to ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

In moments of fear, Saint Paul neighbors showed up for each other. That is the story of resilience we carry forward.

This gathering brought together hundreds of leaders across the Midwest to stand with immigrant communities and strengthen our shared democracy. We reflected on the impacts of Operation Metro Surge and the power of communities responding with solidarity, care, and action.

We are strongest when we lead with courage, compassion, and a commitment to the dignity and safety of every family in our community. I proudly joined community leaders, advocates, and organizers at The Brave of Us: Midwest Democracy & Power Summit hosted by the Immigrant Defense Network.

My response to the United States District Court quashing the federal subpoena our office receive earlier this year during Operation Metro Surge.
I am grateful that the Federal District Court saw this subpoena for what it was: a politically motivated retaliation against our city for lawfully standing up to ICE and fighting for our residents.

We remain committed to protecting our neighbors and legally ensuring that intimidation never dictates how we serve the people who call Saint Paul home.

Happy Juneteenth! Today, we celebrate liberation & reflect on the work ahead. Acknowledging our local history, including the impacts of redlining & displacement of the Rondo neighborhood, I’m reminded that healing is an ongoing journey. I hope you take time with your family & community to celebrate.

One of the most meaningful parts of last week’s celebration was seeing elders, parents, young people, and beautiful babies gathered together. Now, every child who visits the center will learn from those who came before them and better understand their connection to this land.

Progress isn’t always flashy. Sometimes it’s just the nitty-gritty of improving permitting processes, building partnerships, attracting investment, or making sure residents get answers when they need them. Those things matter because they lay the foundation for a city that works for everyone.

When someone is incarcerated, the impacts ripple through families, children, relationships, and economic stability. Breaking cycles of violence means addressing the root causes: isolation, shame, exposure to violence, and unmet economic needs.

This investigation is a testament to the work of our Non-Fatal Shooting Unit and why we need a fully funded statewide approach. The individuals arrested today for violence in our city do not reside here. Yet our city is still responsible for conducting the investigation and bringing them to justice.

PCIARC represents the belief that community voices matter in shaping our city, especially when it comes to interactions with local law enforcement. Community-first policing means listening, transparency, and building trust together.
