This isn’t fraud prevention, it’s retaliatory disruption for over 12,000 Minnesota families who rely on these payments, many of whom live far below the state median income. Child care is a lifeline. It is not a bargaining chip. (1/2)

Our parks and libraries exist for learning, connection, and belonging. Commandeering them as staging grounds for federal immigration operations violates their very mission. That ends now. We will not be deterred in keeping our public spaces welcoming and free from intimidation.

Eight years in, one truth has carried our administration forward: real leadership is rooted in love. It’s designing systems that center community and share power. We didn’t just talk about equity. We built it. We changed how government shows up. When you lead with love, transformation follows.

St. Paul sits at the heart of a growing national movement—one that insists our systems serve people, not the other way around. This movement challenges us to rethink how government operates and calls us to lead with a new kind of courage.

For the second time in as many weeks, federal immigration officers created chaos in our streets. While we cannot control their actions, we must not let ICE fracture the trust that we built together. We are conducting a full review of every use of force by our officers today. Read my full statement.

There is active ICE operations under way today in Saint Paul. I was on scene at BroTex this morning and am in close communication with our City Attorney’s Office and police department. Though we don’t have many details right now, I share the concern and fear this raises for our workers, families, and entire community.

Remember you have rights. We encourage everyone to review the following information for what to do if you are stopped by federal law enforcement, how to safely and legally document proceedings in progress, and who to call for legal assistance. Visit stpaul.gov/immigration-resources.

As a reminder, our Saint Paul police officers will always identify themselves. They wear clearly marked SPPD uniforms, display their badges, and, when relevant, produce a warrant. Our officers will help
de-escalate situations when possible. And they do not wear face coverings.

Stripping communities of federal emergency and preparedness funding to push a political agenda is unlawful and reckless. That’s why we joined Chicago and seven other cities in fighting to protect access to life-saving resources. In times of crisis, we deserve support, not threats.

I am deeply concerned workers were arrested on a Saint Paul job site today by masked agents who refused to identify themselves. This secretive, fear-driven enforcement has become a hallmark of the president’s approach. It has no place in our country. Read my full statement.
I am deeply concerned by workers being arrested on a Saint Paul job site today by masked agents who refused to identify themselves. This kind of secretive, fear-driven enforcement has become a hallmark of the president’s approach—and it has no place in our city or our country.

Let me be clear: Saint Paul Police will never be used as immigration enforcement. Our officers will always identify themselves, and they will always wear clearly visible SPPD markers.

Everyone—regardless of citizenship or immigration status—has rights in this country. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to refuse entry to your home without a warrant signed by a judge. You have the right to an attorney. And you have the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

Saint Paul is a city built by and for immigrants. We will not be intimidated, and we will not turn our backs on our neighbors.
