Have gotten into making bread. Last night I got home from a surprise date and saw that my starter was ready and was up until 2 AM kneading. In the final stage now!

Starter that is active and risen while sitting in the oven with the light on. The timing band is also marking the initial level of the dough.

A peak at bread dough that is proofing in a basket. The counter is covered in flour.

The loaf is proofed and is scored down the middle. It was gently placed into a Dutch oven.

The sourdough loaf has been baked! Its golden crust is truly open and the bread has mostly retained its shape as it rose. It goes back into the oven for about 10 minutes to finish out its crust.

Cropped the photos cause I ain’t posting pics of my kids, but I wanted to share that the 12s team I coach won their first tournament! Didn’t drop a single set and had two back to back comebacks at game point via service aces to win. So very proud of my team!

Challenging and good read to educators and students alike. This part really, really got me because it speaks compassionately to the context Gen Z finds themselves in. Failure is existentially deadening to us.

Students are afraid to fail, and Al presents itself as a savior. But what we learn from history is that progress requires failure. It requires reflection. Students are not just undermining their ability to learn, but to someday lead.

The library is finally together! Alphabetized and sorted by genre and sub genre. It’s not Dewey but it’s good enough.

ABSTRACT
Throughout the 50-year history of self-psychology, the concept of the
nuclear self has been disputed. Intersubjectivity holds that, due to
phenomenological circumstances, the self can never be static in
a relationship but is always dynamic in the milieu. While the emphasis
on dynamic interactions is welcomed, the abandonment of the nuclear
self in its entirety forgoes Kohut’s emphasis on authenticity and misses
the dynamic mechanics between the authentic self-organization and
the ever-shifting selfobject milieu the self-structure adapts to. As an
attempt to bridge the two concepts closer together, this paper uses
the ecological systems model developed Urie Bronfenbrenner, ecological
psychology developed by JJ Gibson, and pairing them with
intersubjective systems theory to delineate specific operations and
sectors of the intersubjective field that surrounds the nuclear self.
This resulted in the emergence of two core concepts: the entangled
self and the authentic self. These concepts use systemic thinking to
extend the nuclear self-concept, the trailing edge, and the leading
edge beyond the dyad, and clinical work is extended beyond empathy
to empowerment strategies.

My mentor, George Hagman, just republished his book “The Psychoanalysis of Aesthetic Experience: Self Relationship and Culture” with three added chapters to it. I can’t recommend it enough for the analytic creative. His voice is so clear and engaging in his writing. Congrats George!

Saw my first horror flick. Sinners made me feel so much more emotion than fear, but I definitely almost peed my pants a couple times. I came in knowing nothing about the film, and it is a vampire story that I haven’t felt so captivated by since Dracula and “The Historian”. Strong recommendation!!!

YouTube & Bluesky gives the best book recs I swear. I’ve read Saul Alinsky, Malcolm X, Bloom & Martin’s book on the BPP, Assata Shakur, and Bonilla-Silvia’s book. Now I’m on Kwame Ture. Perspectives and ideas that I resonate with but had never considered, been encouraging through these times.

The book Stokely Speaks authored by Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture) with a Foreword by Mumia Abu-Jamal. From Black Power to Pan-Africanism. Kwame is speaking at a lectern full of microphones. Think this is the best aspect of my collection. Saba’s album CARE FOR ME is a gem of mine that has still not gotten the recognition it deserves. A masterclass in empathy, grief, and storytelling across pure West Side Chicago soundscapes. Despite coming from Southside, this album still hits so deep.
