Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 12/03/2025If you're talking about this record, I got into it the past year and it's pretty quickly become one of my favs. So good! 110
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 27/02/2025My roommate left the TV on the Baywatch Channel and my cat has been sitting like this watching it all day 280
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 24/01/2025Theorem - Nano I've had this on CD for like a year now and only now got around to seriously listening to it and this is great. Minimal, moody, futuristic ambient techno with lots of soul. Somewhere between detroit techno and early IDM, similar to artists like B12 or Stasis. 130
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 21/01/2025Obsessed with this picture of Yukihiro Takahashi with a chihuahua 140
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 21/01/2025Palomatic - Trill Underrated album from the 90s IDM/ambient techno era by Koji Takahashi from Denki Groove. Really lush, playful and psychedelic soundscapes with groovy beats. More like The Orb and less like Aphex Twin; really fun, upbeat and blissful take on ambient techno. 020
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 15/12/2024Went on a date with a pretty Goth woman and she called me cute 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 04/12/2024Love the funky little Plastikman alien. Really nailed the design with this fella. 100
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 01/12/2024This feels like an album cover I should think is hideous but actually I think it's great 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 31/05/2024This Faye Wong album is so good. Just checked the credits and it just lists Cocteau Twins as producer. That explains so much. 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 27/05/2024My favorite listens of the week, would love any recommendations! 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 06/05/2024Damon Wild - Pleasure Builder; Sonic Groove, 2024 Fairly standard minimal techno. Cold soundscapes + tunneling beats. "Sea Dweller" is a good electro track that breaks up the tedium. "Bittersweet" adds needed colour to the LPs gray world. Otherwise this had a hard time keeping my attention 3.4/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 02/05/2024Vito Ricci - I Was Crossing A Bridge; Music From Memory, 2015 A mixed bag. Interesting archival material, but not every experiment stuck the landing for me. Some pretty ambient/new-agey cuts here. The more rhythmic and droney tracks didn't do a whole lot for me. 3.55/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 02/05/2024Becker/Stegmann/Zeumer - Ich Träume So Leise Von Dir; Music From Memory, 2016 Pretty frustrating for me. I've never been into Spoken word. Instrumentals are a really cool, psychedelic blend of jazz-funk, synth, and newage. They're all dragged down for me by the spoken word passages on top 3.25/5 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 02/05/2024Various Artists - Dreamtime Planet: The Second Barramundi Sampler; Barramundi, 1995 Cool ambient dub comp. First track is great, and the back half is really good too. It gets a little bit less engaging in the middle. None of it reaches below listenable territory. Nice bargain bin find 4.2/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 02/05/2024Four Tet - Three; Text, 2024 Four Tet, reliable as always. Nothing Kieren hasn't done before, but his style continues to work. "Three" is one of the most beautiful tracks he's ever made. It's like a Moby song without the cheese. The whole album is consistently lovely. 4.4/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 01/05/2024P-Model - In A Model Room; Warner Bros. Records, 1979 An interesting album, definitely has grown on me a bit. The first half is really solid. The latter half kinda stumbles into carnival music territory with it's goofy synth riffs. The highlights are well worth it though. Fun overall 4.1/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 29/04/2024A.r.t. Wilson - Overworld; Growing Bin, 2014 Really pretty, relaxed, new age music. Very aquatic/tropical feeling. It all sounds like water/beach level music out of an N64 game. A little too on the nose with the vgm allusions with 8bit sounds in one song. Other than that, this is solid 4.4/5 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 29/04/2024Zazou, Bikaye, & CY1 - Noir et Blanc, 1983 A heady blend of minimal synth and traditional Congolese music. A very unique album, very psychedelic. A bit of an acquired taste, and I definitely need more time with it. Overall I enjoyed this, and see the potential for it to grow on me more 4.2/5 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 29/04/2024Rei Harakami - Unrest; Sublime, 1998 This was so good. Psychedelic, bending chords, sentimental melodies, and playful drum machine grooves. Lots of variety here too; some techno, breakbeats, and downtempo all with a nostalgic IDM bent. Sounds like PS1/PS2 music in the best way possible. 4.5/5 030
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 29/04/2024The Black Dog - Temple of Transparent Balls; General Production Recordings (GPR), 1993 An odd album, feels like a transitional album - UK techno becoming what would become known as IDM. Few albums have had their impact on me vary so much between listens, yet I always come back to this one. 4.4/5 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 28/04/2024Música Esporádica - Musica Esporádica; GASA, 1985 This was so nice. Trippy, layered, atmospheric excursions. Light Tribal drumming, gentle marimbas/xylophones, and heavenly pads. All of it has this tropical, aquatic bent to it that's so lovely. Excellent meditation vibes. A real gem. 4.5/5 110
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 28/04/2024Specter - Brutus; Sound Signature, 2023 Gorgeous, leftfield deep house EP. Rhythmically dense with sentimental atmospheres. Bridges the gap between deep house and ambient techno artists like Nuron or Stasis. The first thing I've heard by Specter and I want to hear more now. 4.6/5 032
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 28/04/2024Got to show my roommate Robot Carnival last night. Still my favorite animated anthology and it's not even close. Such an explosion of creativity, every short offers something totally different and excels at what they set out to achieve. A total triumph of animation for animation's sake 110
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 27/04/2024Luke Slater - 92-94; Peacefrog Records, 1997 An excellent collection of early 90s material that shows off how eclectic Slater's productions were back then. Showcasing a variety of styles of techno: industrial, ambient, deep, acid, hardcore, etc. 4.5/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 26/04/2024Underground Resistance - Nation 2 Nation; UR, 1991 One of the most beautiful Detroit techno records. Dreamy, jazzy, and soulful. Total bliss from beginning to end. The jazzier side of UR is some of the best shit ever. 4.8/5 021
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 25/04/2024Dario Zenker - Reflection; Ilian Tape, 2023 Really refreshing dubby, atmospheric, leftfield techno. With some breaks and even footworkish elements in the second half. Every track is steeped in a similar hazy vibe but offers a degree of variety that keeps the entire album engaging. Cool stuff 4.4/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 25/04/2024Rod Modell - Sacred Geometry EP; Echocord, 2004 Solid Dub Techno. Groovy, hypnotic, and textural. I especially like the percussion on "Space Age Mythology". No real deviations from standard Dub Techno formulas but it executes those formulas really well for 4 tracks. 4.3/5 010
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 25/04/2024The Durutti Column - Fidelity; Crepuscule, 1996 This is the first Durutti Column album I've ever heard in full. Ethereal ambient electronica with hints of dream pop and post rock. Very lovely. I'll have to check out more Durutti Column soon. "Grace" is such a beautiful track 4.3/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 25/04/2024Yasuaki Shimizu - Kiren; Palto Flats, 2022 It's hard to believe Shimizu had just been sitting on this album since 1984. It's so forward thinking and even sounds at times like contemporary experimental musicians like OPN. It's as avant-garde as it is catchy. One of my absolute favorites 5/5 031
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 25/04/2024Zero 7 - Simple Things; Ultima Dilemma, 2001 One of my mom's favorite albums, so this is super nostalgic for me. Easy listening, downtempo pop that just oozes cool. An excellent album to clean to 4.6/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 24/04/2024Larry Heard - Love's Arrival; Track Mode, 2001 Not Heard's best vocals, they aren't bad but they lack the focus of some of his other vocal tracks. The bible thumping is kinda lame. All that aside, production is as deep and. lush as always. Gripes aside, another solid album from Larry. 4.2/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 24/04/2024Global Communication - The Way / The Deep; Dedicated, 1996 Near perfect house single. Chunky funky beats and addictive grooves. Long tracklengths without getting boring. Fun, deep dance music. 4.8/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 24/04/2024Global Communication - 76:14; Dedicated, 1994 Absolutely sublime. Ethereal, dreamy, chillingly beautiful at times. The last song almost got me tearing up at work lol. This lived up to the hype for sure and I can't wait to come back to it and really let it sink in over repeat listens 4.5/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 23/04/2024Monolake - Cinemascope; Monolake, 2001 Yeah that's a pretty neat Ableton tech demo alright 4.2/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 23/04/2024The Field - Looping State of Mind; Kompakt, 2011 The Field is such a reliable artist. Every album of his that I've heard is some varying degree of great. No real deviations from his usual style but it's wonderful style. Why fix what isn't broken? 4.3/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 23/04/2024Tomorrow Comes the Harvest - Evolution; Axis, 2023 Jeff Mills becoming a jazz guy will never stop being cool. A compelling blend of hypnotic rhythms and spiritual grooves. An album with a lot of depth to uncover with repeat listens. Strong grower potential here. 4.3/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 22/04/2024LFO - What Is House EP; Warp Records 1992 I hate to say it but the Moby Remix is kind of a banger. Syndrome is also a groovy LFO deepcut. Unfortunately the LFO remix of "What is House" is kinda underwhelming and the track "Mashed Potato" is just OK 3.8/5 000
Max Rose @maxrose.bsky.social · 22/04/2024Move D - Kunststoff; Source, 1995 Trippy, moody, and deep. Surprisingly eclectic. Songs stretch on a tad long. Kinda weird that all the housier tracks are in the beginning. Maybe dispersing them throughout the tracklisting could've broken up some tedium. Def needs a relisten. Very cool 4.1/5 010
