I’m guessing it’s a bit of both, leaning toward option 2. You only start seeing the trauma showing when there’s someone to be rescued. And given what happened in the past for them, it makes sense. Possibly still a bit of 1 too though. Survivor’s guilt. Bystander guilt. Etc.

Stringbean does have that issue of pushing themself - and others - if it means rescuing or helping someone. To the potential detriment of themself and anyone with them. We saw before with them and Teddy alone, and we’re seeing it again now.

I’m hoping that Orion manages to at least fashion some crude tools. They’ve been incredibly abrasive but they also immediately advised against a solution that would physically harm Teddy and put something similarly painful as the final resort if all else fails.
