At the galaxy (S09) session of #SF2A2025, Floriane Leclercq is presenting some cool results from her HST program to look at high resolution Lyman alpha spectra of LzLCS galaxies!

Bilan #StandUpForScience à Paris aujourd'hui : on était plus nombreux que prévu, et c'était très positif !

Vue de la place Jussieu couverte de monde en attendant le départ de la manifestation. On voit l'entrée du campus à droite, la fontaine au milieu, et certains visages sont couverts par des emojis sur la gauche.

It's now official: starting next year, I will join the Observatoire de Paris (LERMA) as an assistant professor at Sorbonne Université. In other words: I got a job! An astronomy job! In France! I'll probably talk a lot more about it, but for now, time to just be happy :-)

I should have done it earlier, but quick advertisement for a new paper (arxiv.org/abs/2402.17635) written by my former student (now doing a PhD in Geneva), Emma Giovinazzo! Emma used the Obelisk simulation to connect Lya and LyC photons at z=6, and… "it's complicated". For details, read the paper!

Extrait du rapport: "La réforme des retraites de 2023 risque encore de fragiliser les recrutements au CNRS et chez ses partenaires : en effet la capacité des établissements à recruter tient compte de prévisions de départ en retraite sur les années à venir. Le fait que nombre de collègues se voient contraints de retarder leurs départs d'un certain nombre de trimestres (jusqu'à deux ans) à partir de septembre 2023 risque d'entraîner une révision à la baisse des ouvertures de postes de titulaires. La facilitation introduite du maintien en poste pour tout fonctionnaire jusqu'à 70 ans peut aussi avoir un effet sur le recrutement de jeunes collègues."
