Like so far in my experience there’s been no training that takes someone to even gain that intuition. Which like who is surprised! Everyone is fending for themselves but it just reveals how much people don’t see a failure of a system (less of AI and bad leadership)

Hahaha that’s kind of in my head reaction too. I think it came from a place of feeling safe enough to admit they didn’t know how it worked and so the question itself I think was a semblance of where I could sit with them more to give them that learning

I just don’t want us to lose the transformative magic that comes from people being kind to give their time and energy. Humans are the reason we create new ideas and change people’s lives through mentorship. If I didn’t see people like me in the room, I wouldn’t ever have believed I could be here.

I don’t think we really understand the impact and second order effects of change like this. It isn’t a “you must struggle because I did” vibe. It is a “how can I give you the skill to build your own experiences and develop your own heuristic or intuition”.

I do worry about learning as a skill we share and grow with peers. Watching less and less folks collaborate and more and more isolation is very real. This is part of the transformation we potentially lose when we throw lmgtfy or I guess lmaitfy. And that requires intentionality and design against it

I don’t consider what I do “magic”, genuinely I would say everything I know and do is through trial and error SEVERAL TIMES over and over. And I know we see some things as really innovative but that rigor of experimentation and learning is a necessary step for learning.

It beg the question, when everything is one NLP question away, are people even aware of what question to ask? Is this a skill that people are prepared to answer themselves without external bits in the way and understand how to not just trust but verify it too?

I got asked a question at work, “what are your most used DataDog Queries and how do you form them?” and this question really stumped me. Not because it’s hard but rather the question itself isn’t how I think or work? Not that it is wrong but maybe it shows they think I’m “prepared” for anything?

As a creator/publisher: I'd REALLY like for Sweet Shop to work out. Post-Amazon buyout, Comixology died on the vine. It's a non-service, at this point. Sweet Shop is run by ppl who actually give a crap about comics and want to make it easier for people to read them. So grab some ultra-cheap books!
