fucking christ almighty, why are motherfuckers STILL on this "the troops won't do authoritarian shit" the day after the CNG was actively shooting protesters. Anybody who thinks that consciences are going to save us is fucking delusional

my big point in all of this is not "these things are
impossible" but that even the most ambitious
authoritarians have to contend with institutional
constraints, questionable internal support and loyalty,
and the decision-making of ordinary people within
and outside the government

Do you see how in this post, your reply to someone whose family was interned does not acknowledge that fact even slightly, And in fact simply talks down to that person as though the impact of that internment doesn't matter at all? That's where you did it. I should not need to explain this.

fyi, this thread is complete bullshit. It is a list of federal grant programs, NOT a list of *affected* programs. That doesn't exist (yet) This is admittedly an attempt to do the reporting we *want*, but it's done in the worst way with potentially imaginary sources. It's misinformation.
This is a screenshot of @esqueer.net's original post about a list of federal grants, which is described as "a complete destruction of the function of the federal government". If you read into this thread, you'll discover that this is a list of federal grant programs compiled by ChatGPT, and verified to exist by the poster, but NOT a comprehensive list of grant programs affected by the order (because such a list simply does not exist.)

In particular the hilariously large ones that have a solenoid and bellows are shockingly underrated, and like an order of magnitude cheaper than the FR-301. that said, the fr-301 is a small price to pay for sheer joy

Another now deleted post from proton, in response to one of my replies:

We like Gail because she has an impeccable antitrust track record, and we think she is a solid pick."

A screen capture from the official proton.me account on Bluesky reads as follows:

Corporate capture of Dems is real. In 2022, we campaigned extensively in the US for anti-trust legislation.

Two bills were ready, with bipartisan support. Chuck Schumer (who coincidently has two daughters working as big tech lobbyists) refused to bring the bills for a vote.

1/3At a 2024 event covering antitrust remedies, out of all the invited senators, just a single one showed up - JD Vance.

By working on the front lines of many policy issues, we have seen the shift between Dems and Republicans over the past decade first hand.

2/3Dems had a choice between the progressive wing (Bernie Sanders, etc), versus corporate Dems, but in the end money won and constituents lost.

Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans remain more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses.

3/3

How in the hell is @proton.me being led by a straight up maga chud not the biggest news right now.
A tweet from Andy Yen, QT'ing Donald Trump's announcement of Gail Slater as Assistant AG:

"Great pick by @realDonaldTrump. 10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned. People forget that the current antitrust actions against Big Tech were started under the first Trump admin."
