mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 17/02/2026LinkedIn is notoriously difficult as their APIs are locked behind mysterious partnership contracts. YouTube is a little more straightforward and their documentation is decent. No comment about X as I left that platform years ago... 110

mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 27/10/2025For me this is not just "opinionated" but simply optimising for a single criteria. I suppose other approaches with a single-criteria focus could be "security" or "privacy", where all other factors are essentially ignored... 110
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 27/10/2025...data team members might ingest and load data by dumping CSV files to their machines from sources and then manually import them to the database 110
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 27/10/2025...they might run Metabase in a Docker container and run it off a laptop that sits in the office, that employees VPN into to access dashboards... 110
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 27/10/2025If the primary restriction is budget, then all tool choices will be made with this criteria in mind. For example, all analysts might run local IDEs and connect to a production Postgres database that they share with developers... 100

mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 25/05/2025that would be an insanely awesome session if you combine it (somehow) with some data stuff ;) 110
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 29/04/2025oh boo :( did you try some of the aliases too in the dropdown? 000
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 12/03/2025When using it downstream, you can do COUNT(unique_eventid) and not have to worry about duplicates, but if you want to split by dimension you'll need to build a way to select a key from the JSON and do JSON_EXTRACT() - we did that process using count.co fairly easily in a canvas. 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 12/03/2025For example, I designed a compromise by creating a user actions table that has a JSON column for additional dimensions. As dimensions change per action (i.e. onboarding stuff shows which channel someone came from, but conversion actions have revenue values) this was a good way to overcome this. 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 12/03/2025I do believe it's possible to store a lot of logic in the pre-processing stages before data is used in reporting, data products etc. but as others have mentioned, it's always a question of tradeoff. 110
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 12/03/2025To answer the original question, I think the term is a little silly. We can just name things more explicitly, i.e. "moving logic upstream to the warehouse" rather than rely on the notion that everyone will know what this marketing slogan means. 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 12/03/2025This term only makes sense if you draw your diagrams from left to right, which is a common assumption that we do this in the West but I am not sure about countries that write right to left... 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 27/02/2025If I told you I had it and that you should trust me, would you believe me? 000
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 12/02/2025This is great! I've long been a fan of MADLIBS (by fi.co) which I adapted to my personal intro: I’m a full-time Decision Engineer and part-time Data Educator helping others understand and learn about the field of data analytics through lectures, entertaining livestreams and videos and trainings. 110

mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 23/01/2025Do you mean WalkerOS? I really like the concept but it doesn't have fully-fledged SDKs for mobile (which is what a lot of businesses need). There is a Node-based source build for inclusion but that's not quite the same... 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 22/01/2025Interesting, I just looked at the current FAQ page and saw this - am reasonably certain this language/clarification was added later... 200
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 22/01/2025It cannot be used in production when there is parallel operations (to prevent downtime) - this was the outcome of the discussions we had last year anyway. 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 22/01/2025Snowplow at it's core is still open-source, if you don't run it in failover mode (i.e. multiple production instances). I know what you mean but for many, many businesses, having failover production pipelines for behavioural data is not a cost they're willing to carry. 100
mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 10/01/2025Replaced Twitter with BlueSky in my website footer already late last year :) More drops! 010

mattytwoshoes @mattytwo.shoes · 07/12/2024The key lights are usually pretty strong, even at lower settings (then the diffusion is lower too). So if you point them at the wall behind you and angle them a little, on brighter settings you can get a less harsh look with good lighting :) 100
