Been on a bit of a Souls-like kick these last few months. This is what I've played recently and how I would place them, next on the list are the Nioh games! Any out there suggestions I maybe haven't tried yet?

Currently addicted to Splatoon Raiders, the loop of quick raids just causes the “just one more raid!” mentality that has meant hours have flown by unintentionally 😂

Been playing mouse p.i for hire and it’s full of references to other games. Obviously this is my favourite one so far! 👌🏻

It took me like 100 hours to platinum Elden Ring, they manage to do half the game in about an hour consistently with constant route changes 🤣

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 06/07/2026

That’s the ones! I just love the mind games and decision making they have to do so quickly, it’s super impressive.

I’ve gotten into watching Elden Ring bingo games, that gets pretty intense at times!

Resident Evil 4 is definitely top for me as well and I’ve finished it on every one of them! 😆

Rolled credits on The First Berserker: Khazan, for the last few years I would always say my favourite souls-like game was Lies of P……until now! Everything about it was pretty much spot on for me with probably the best feeling combat I’ve experienced in a game like this 👌🏻

First Hades 2 clear, Chronos is no joke! 😅

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 27/04/2026

Finally went through Lies of P again but on PS5 this time, it’s still probably my favourite souls-like 👌🏻 I tried the newer easy difficulties a bit too and it’s a refreshing change for people who find these games too hard to get through properly, big thumbs up 👍🏻

Today is offically my last day at Sumo Digital after nearly 12 years. It's still quite an upsetting time but i'm hopeful for what the future holds. If you know of any Games QA Tester roles going preferably hybrid/remote and you think I could be a good fit please let me know!

Been bashing some playthrough’s of Resi 4 Remake going for the platinum and it sure is fun being able to sprint through it with the infinite rocket launcher 👌🏻 Got to the island in just over two hours on professional 😆

Happy Resident Evil day for all those who celebrate. Can’t wait to get stuck into #ResidentEvilRequiem!

I’ve been playing through the Switch 2 version of FFVII Remake this week and I’ve been loving going through it again, I’m constantly impressed by how well the whole experience is running as well!

Ohhh I’ll certainly have a look at those, thank you!

It’s pretty much confirmed now that I’ll be leaving Sumo Digital after nearly 12 years via redundancy. If you have need of a QA Tester who has worked on projects from mobile games all the way up to AAA please feel free to reach out! Heads up on suitable positions would be super appreciated also!

A lot of people who've used it think it's the best controller going at the minute and I have to probably agree with them. It's a bit pricey though, thankfully I got it as a bday present a few months ago! 😂

110

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 16/02/2026

I think mines the first ultimate one so might need an upgrade! I have been using the switch 2 pro controller though and that might be even better!

110

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 15/02/2026

I’ve been using one of their controllers on my switch for a while and it’s great!

110

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

This week has been such an awful one for myself and my work colleagues, even after the last couple years the game industry is just in free fall 😔

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 02/02/2026

Seeing Game finally going out of business makes me sad that the UK doesn’t have any big game stores now but I am surprised they lasted this long. Though after working for that company for a few years all I can say specifically to them is good riddance ✌🏻

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 30/01/2026

I was waiting to get Dispatch on Switch since it seemed perfect for that but after seeing the whole censorship mess it didn't sit right with me so i've gone and got the PS5 version instead. Played the first two chapters last night and it's definitely as good as everyone said it was, super good! 👍

So who's trying #Highguard tomorrow for nothing more than curiosity? 😅

Time to carry on with it! 😆

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 11/01/2026

Even though I’ve got a neverending backlog I tried the demo for #trailsthroughdaybreak and after just the prologue I went and bought it, been playing through the rest of the demo while it arrives but I’m thinking this will take up most of my gaming time for the near future!

010

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 09/01/2026

Oh yes, lots of metal music and demon killing has occurred 🤘🏻 Just finished the platinum on eternal tonight but I’ll have a little break before dark ages!

010

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 09/01/2026

You say that and I used my last week before work to play through a couple Doom games, safe to say that wasn't a chill time 😂 Nicely done though!

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 09/01/2026

The new Black Veil Brides song definitely confirms they're heading back to their old sound slightly and i'm all for it! 🤘 youtu.be/3Dk9DI5C4Ss?...

I got an ereader recently in an attempt to try read some books for the first time properly so I only really need to read one book this year to hit a personal best 😂

110

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

I need to keep telling myself "you do not need another controller" because that blue one is calling my name.

010

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

Tried the demo for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined last and i'm annoyed that it's so good because it's probably going to stop me chipping away at the backlog when it comes out 😂

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

Seeing in the new year with a tipple and rip and tearing through some (now) classic doom. Hope you’re having a nice night and happy new year all! 🤘🏻

Nice to see the Honey Monster turning up for the darts.

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 16/12/2025

As much as I love Death Stranding 2 this guy is the worst thing by a clear mile. Takes so long to level up the facility and is so unbelievably dumb as a character. So glad I don’t have to deal with it anymore now 🤣

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 12/12/2025

We all know what will win at #TheGameAwards but my GOTY is easily #DeathStranding2. It was everything a good sequel needs to be and was just a fantastic experience for me. Whilst e33 was a very good game it had too many little flaws for me to say it was the best of the year.

131

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 09/12/2025

Gotta be honest that whole Game Awards Statue thing looks to be quite disappointing if what’s been found is true 😅

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 08/12/2025

I finished Death Stranding 2's story the other day and i'm just polishing off the platinum at the minute but that game is quite easily my Game of the Year. We all know a certain little french game is going to sweep the awards and I did enjoy that but it's no where near for me. Keep on keeping on!

It’s quite simple at this point, a Yakuza game comes out and I buy it 🤘🏻

020

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 07/12/2025

Marvel Cosmic Invasion plat completed, a rather fun beat ‘em up that’s probably worth your time if you’re a fan of them! 🤘🏻

010

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 02/12/2025

Just finished it today actually and I agree it isn’t even close 👍🏻

010

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

In a year where Expedition 33 will end up winning nearly everything awards wise either rightly or wrongly I hope at least some love is given to DS2 because you can tell a lot of love went into making it.

010

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

I started Death Stranding 2 the other day and I’m as addicted to it as the first one if not more. There’s just so many little improvements and quality of life upgrades that make it way nicer and it’s probably going to end up being my favourite game of the year.

220

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 20/11/2025

I know they’re superficial awards at best but I’ve just rolled credits on Ghost of Yotei and the fact it didn’t get a Game of the Year nomination for the Game Awards is pretty criminal. I think I actually preferred it to Expedition 33 which will obviously win it in the end.

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 13/11/2025

As someone from "Barnsworth" i'm glad we now have representation in games, even if it is just that line.

000

Matt Auld @mattyhxc.bsky.social · 02/11/2025

That's quite clearly a them problem! 😅
