I have the answer why all these Fighting-in-Pubs-Aged-Men paraded through Dover in black. Isn't black supposed to make you look slimmer? Here are some of the same on parade in their Black Shorts - like Spode in Bertie Wooster - in Worcs back in July. hopenothate.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Shared space is particularly disliked by VIPs - in Scotland there is a lot in town centres and many just feel banned by danger. There is no tactile signage, so it is all dependent on the charity of cyclists (eg at a bus stop) or motorists. I think indicating where we should each be is better.

This view often falls foul of those wanting to push "disabled people vs cyclists" narratives, where "disabled people" are limited to visually impaired and frail pedestrians, excluding mobility aids. A cycle is one of the most common mobility aids. And law requires ALL disabled to be considered.

They are NOT "cycle lanes"; they are MOBILITY lanes used by elderly, disabled & mobility aid users. And regarded as such by the UK Government since (?) 2024 They are PART of inclusive infrastructure. Throwing eg wheelchair users into general traffic at every bus stop is not on.

A supplementary (I'll PM you if this does not get through) - how long do we get to respond to this type of notice? Is this another of these abusively short consultation periods? The one here has a "reply by in writing" date, but no publication date.

Mark, do you have any knowledge as to why this is claimed to be a "permissive path"? Surely it is something more like an "Adopted Footway", which is a variety of Right of Way equivalent ? I have little knowledge as to how these apply on Trunk Roads.

My speculation is that they could try renouncing British Citizenship, but I doubt that would actualy work as we have worldwide jurisdiction on these crimes. I'm not sure of Goodwin's position on this. A larger concern is perhaps that an audience was willing to watch & the values in their heads.

Over here in the UK she is seen as what we call an "end of the pier show", like one of your Atlantic City Boardwalk freak shows. She is "Lettuce Liz" because a newspaper ran a livestream of a lettuce, which had not wilted by the time she resigned. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liz_Tru...

They will be claiming that they are victims of political 2 tier justice & why does no one look at the Muslim Rape Gangs. Our far right (further right than Farage who has already had his fingers burned by Tate) are already jumping on it. I would expect the US Far Right to help them quietly.

Clacton Byelection Report. Farage standing. Lib Dem not standing. Tory not standing. Labour not standing. Restore UK not standing. If the Greens do the right thing, we will have Nigel Farage vs Count Binface. And that would be exquisite. The USA media would be all over it as they love Binface.

A graphic that came across my sight. Does anyone have any idea who these "British Unity" people are? It is strange for something called "British Unity" to pantomime themselves taking a swing at other British people.
A graphic put out by something called "British Unity", showing a figure made out of a Union Jack (correct way up for once) taking a kick at a figure made out of the Pride rainbow colours.

The graphic carries the slogan, "The only pride we celebrate is British pride."

3 - JD Vance. Born again Roman Catholic with his own opinions (disagrees with Pope / Bishops). Hankering after Traditionalist Roman Catholicism, linked to a desire for Roman Catholic political power which is the 'integralist' angle. 6 Scotus Judges Roman Catholic (c/f 20% of the population). 3/4

An interesting summary of Trump's religious factions (video link at end): 1 - Hegseth, Reformed type doctrine. Think South Africa Dutch Reformed / Northern Ireland Protestant for the style. They want a "Christian Society" on their pattern, over the very long term. Racism, male headship. 1/4

Just playing. Dracula's Cycleway. It may cost you blood to get past through the barriers. I was quite surprised the photo worked - it was a handheld long exposure on a mobile phone.
A nighttime photo of an anti-wheelchair A-barrier with a fence blocking the entrance to a mobility track and casting a sinister shadow.

A prominent "pedestrian/cycling" sign glows a blood-red colour, whilst streetlamps show a ghostly halo in the dark.

@rantyhighwayman.bsky.social can I ask you a Q about White H-Lines as used across drop kerbs? If put across an entrance to a PRoW which has a drop kerb, 1 - Are they light on paperwork (ie no TRO)? 2 - Can Council Officers to enforce on parking/pavement parking, as a marking is then present? eg

Here's a case where a footpath crosses a road, with little consideration for wheelchair users, elderly people and so on. This is quite recent - and has perhaps only been like hat for 15 years. I'm not convinced that being stentorian like this is a good technique. www.youtube.com/shorts/q2VYS...

I'm playing with some new technology - very impressed at the ease of making videoblogs compared to 2005. I need to sharpen the style for shorts & longs, & decide about scripts. * These are a couple of looks at anti-wheelchair barriers in my town. * Why are vlogs categorised like guns or trousers?

Indeedy-doody. But currently I have a freezer drawer full of chuckleberries, so it will be chuckleberry vinegar this time. They are a hybrid of redcurrent, gooseberry and blackcurrant - so are a little tart and need more sugar, or honey.

Photo of the day. These are the heat condensers of the heat pump system that supplies all of the cooling and a big chunk of the heating required by my local (600 bed) hospital, Kings Mill, from today's walk.
The photo shows a view across a reservoir to a hospital in the distance, with a blue cloudy sky and a row of skeletal trees at the far side.

In the reservoir are a row of weed and grass covered platforms, with nesting and resting geese.

UK mobility aid laws were written in the 1920s, when people used devices like this Argson motor trike. The rules have just been tweaked a few times since then. A century on, it’s long past time for Disabled people to have equal pedestrian, cycling and cycling-equivalent mobility rights.
Graphic reads "UK mobility aid laws weren't written for wheelchair and mobility scooter users. It's long past time for an update. Photo of a 1939 advert for Argson Invalid Tricycles (right, credit Egham Museum Trust) and a photo of a 1940s Argson Invalid Motor Trike (left, credit Science Museum). These were very popular devices and are near identical to devices available from the beginning of the 20th century through to the 1970s.
