Solid fight choreography, ! liked the gross effects, but the story is non-existent. Went way too bare bones on the lore, the rules, life inside the hotel... they say each floor represents a different sin, but we only see one? Gotta do better than that. It doesn't help that every single person in this cast is mid. No stars, no charisma. Brutal.

Why should I care about this movie when the people making it don't? I'm a fan of the cast and the locations, but the story is straight-up not good, borderline nonsensical. There are some takes where it feels like they were pressed for time or money because why else would you leave them in? No me gusta nada.

Truly loved this. Amazing storytelling that jumps off from the word Go. It will take me a minute to consider all the themes and conflicting interests, but this felt far more adult than My Neighbor Totoro & The Boy & The Heron (only other two Miyazaki l've seen).
Was a little bummed I was seeing the dubbed vs subbed version, but how bummed can I be with a Keith David voice performance?

Of course you want to see Pattinson playing a freak in this. He’s on fire here. Unfortunately, the story lagged a bit for me, and I wish they had taken more liberties to zhuszh it up a little. #letterboxd #filmsky 📽️

Solid flick for the Robert Pattinson performance alone. I still feel like he's got another level of creep/unhinged in him.
Merritt Wever and Skyler Gisondo both great at what they do and wish we saw both in more movies. Phoebe Bridgers nailed it as well. The only weird casting is Ana Faris...why put her in the movie if you're only going to give her two minutes??
Ultimately I can't rate this higher because there isn't enough story here. They would have been better off fictionalizing the entire movie instead of beholden to the truth. As is, there is a solid 30-40min where the plot does not meaningfully move along.

Of course you want to see Ethan Hawke chew up scenes for two hours. He's so good & believable.
Russell Crowe is surprisingly great as well. I was all geared up for a terrible accent, but he does a nice job.
I think this is an impressive go for a first time director. He made some visual choices that suggested a style, or maybe he was just trying shit to try shit.
The script is good, particuarly an early poker scene that establishes the character of the rest of the crew, although I will say the plot & character motivations don't always add up.
This will be a killer mission in Red Dead
Redemption 3.

Definitely felt like playing an installment of the game and really enjoyed Austin Abrams performance. A surprising amount of laughs that kind of wore out there welcome, but for sure scary both in terms of the jump scares & monsters.
At 87 minutes if's fast-paced, but also slight.
There's initially an interpersonal storyline that gets basically forgotten, any non Abrams non monster character gets less than 5 min of screen time. As a result the end feels abrupt vs. any kind of emotional satisfaction.
Still fun tho!

If I had to describe this movie in one word, I'd have to go with "silly". There are parts that build tension well & are scary, there is some cool action with big guns and car maneuvers, but it is ultimately very silly. The humor, the anecdotes, the fate of some characters, and the introduction of the motives of others...no movie will have you leaving the theater asking "what???" like this one.
Various other complaints would include every scene being 5 minutes too long and the CGI portions being cool in concept, but looking like PS2 graphics in effect.
It *is* entertaining and funny and the action is cool, but what the fuck was this?

Free People dares to ask “What if small top and giant pants”?

A woman wearing a form fitting top and jean shorts so baggy John Cena would blush.

Perhaps the same woman in kind of a 90s grunge look (jean jacket, white wife beater (?), plaid shirt tied around her waist, and very baggy pant.

What must be the same woman in a tight white long sleeve turtle neck and you guessed it…humongous pants.

Among the worst movies I've ever seen and an insult to moviegoers everywhere.
There is no script and these actors are not gifted improvisors. This leads to stuttering, repeating what someone else just said, saying the object that happens to be in front of them, and awkward pauses and silences.
Sandra Bullock gives what must be the worst performance of her career. She is wooden, expressionless, and displays none of the humor or charm she is renowned for. An embarrassing effort.
Nicole Kidman & Joey King are more gang, but again let down by a lack of script. Maisie Williams might as well have not been in the movie for as little as she is given to do.
The plot is nonsensical and poorly paced. We waste so much time in set-up that other characters are introduced with no more than 45 minutes left to go and dispensed of just as quickly.
