Hi! Sorry for the late 7-day forecast... I've been out & about this weekend. I appreciate your understanding. 🙂 No major changes to the forecast. Mid-week looks soggy as the remnants of hurricane Polo moves into the Midwest. Nothing major locally... just some rain.

Happy Saturday AM! It sure is nice to see that blue sky and sunshine!!! If you're heading down IN-25 to West Lafayette for some Irish/Boilermaker football, you couldn't ask for a better day. Sunshine, low 70s, light wind and low humidity. How about that!!

Heading to your local high school for some football (or some marching band, if you're a "geek" like me!)? The weather will certainly cooperate this evening with temperatures in the 60s, falling into the 50s by the drive home.

Hi! Each day that passes is one day closer to LOTS of sun and some really great temperatures! Highs in the 70s, lows in the 60s. How about that for a September weekend!?

Good morning! It's going to be a mainly cloudy day with on & off showers. You'll certainly note the much cooler temperatures, with highs only in the lower/middle 60s by this afternoon. It'll be breezy as well. Certainly a preview of fall! Have a good Monday!

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Are you looking forward to the cooler temperatures? Highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s... and some increasing sunshine by mid-week. Some natural A/C for those that are sick of it running nonstop!

Good Friday evening, all. Here's the latest & greatest from my studio! Rainy weekend with on & off showers/t'storms. Don't expect 48 hours of nonstop rain, but certainly don't expect 48 hours of dry weather. It's a good weekend to keep the Matt Rudkin WX App with you!

It's game day!! If you're heading to Notre Dame for tailgating or the game this afternoon, be ready for a warm day. Nothing crazy, but certainly summer weather here with temperatures in the 80s. It'll be a tad bit more humid, too. However... NO STORMS!! :)

Did you get a picture of the sky this evening? My inbox is full! This was basically a boundary between drier air and air that has just a little bit of extra humidity in it. There are quite a bit of clouds to our south, and this was the leading edge!

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Good morning, all. Happy September!! Expect some sun today, along with summer like temperatures. It will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s across the area, with heat index values in the upper 90s to near 100°. Nothing we haven't seen this season, but certainly VERY hot compared to the past few days!

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
A 96% partial lunar eclipse will turn the Moon a dramatic rusty red this Thursday night! Earth’s shadow will cover nearly the entire surface as the Sun, Earth, and Moon align perfectly. Look up and enjoy the view, the WX should cooperate!! :)

FALL PREVIEW IN MID-AUGUST: Here are temperatures this afternoon. Most of us in the lower 70s... which is mid/late September averages. There is very low humidity out there, thanks to the northwest wind. Are you enjoying today, or are you a summer lover wanting your 80s/90s back?

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
SWIM RISK TODAY: It's a gorgeous day!! Heads up if you're heading to the beaches, though. With northwest wind today (the reason it's drier and cooler!), waves will kick up 3-5'. This will create an a rip current risk. Today is a great day to go to the beach and soak up some sun... but not swim.

TUE 11:30p EDT: Line of rain with a few lightning bolts here & there moving through. It is NOT severe, despite what doom & gloom social media folks say. Just regular old rain moving through. It'll last an hour or so before moving out. Sleep well!!
000
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
TUE EVENING UPDATE: Our next chance of rain comes into the forecast overnight tonight, mainly after midnight. Luckily, severe weather is not anticipated. But we could see a quick 1-2hr downpour along with some lightning/thunder.

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Sick and tired of the humidity? The next few days will feel MUCH better. No more "instant back sweat" dew points... just typical summer humidity. Nothing too major. Heck, Thu may preview a fall-like day... watch out!! :)

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 17/08/2026
Good morning, everyone! Expect an absolutely beautiful day today!!!! WOO HOO!! Any AM showers quickly give way to drier conditions. Can I get an AMEN!?!?!!?! :) Sorry... I am very excited for folks dealing with flooding to dry out some.
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 16/08/2026
Here is my latest 7-day forecast. While the forecast rain is not 0%, it's substantially lower for a few days! Great news!! So many folks reading this are dealing with flooding & storm damage from nearly a week ago. If you're not one of those folks... send them some virtual hugs!
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 16/08/2026
Hey, friends. Raise your hand as high as you can if you're looking forward to a few days without active weather. We've got some sunshine, cooler temperatures and lower humidity in store. One more batch of rain pushes through Central/Southern Indiana... way south of Michiana.

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
Good morning, all! Expect on & off rain showers today, unfortunately. It will be similar to the past few days where some areas get downpours, others not so much. I'd highly recommend keeping an eye on the radar for any outdoor plans. Stay dry!
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
MORE RAIN: We are quiet tonight, but our "ring of fire" pattern continues to throw rain chances our way. The next chance will be Thursday... which is not great news given the flooding we've seen. I think many folks reading this can relate to Mr. Farley...

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
12:20p EDT: Heavy rain moving through the area, with a few gusty wind reports. This is nothing compared to yesterday, but certainly will slow electric restoration efforts & damage cleanup in parts of the area.

I thought many of you would find this neat! I was driving by SBN and several Blackhawk helicopters are here today! Our amazing folks in the military use SBN (and many other local airports) for training exercises. They picked a beautiful day as the clouds break up!

The Perseid meteor shower ramps up this weekend and peaks next week! Even tonight, you may already catch a few meteors streaking across the sky, with better chances as we roll through the weekend. Activity will continue to increase before the shower peaks mid-next week.

Good morning! On & off rain showers are the theme today. If you have outdoor plans, you may want a backup at times... at the very least, keep an eye to radar. The rain & clouds will keep temperatures cooler than the past few days. Have a good Saturday! :)

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Hi, all! Happy Friday evening. Light rain/sprinkles out there, but continue to expect more steady rain overnight. On & off rain through the day on Saturday. It won't rain the entire day, but do expect downpours at time. No severe weather.
030
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
3:45p EDT: Rain showers sneaking into the area this afternoon. None of this is heavy, but light drizzle/rain showers will be the theme for the rest of the afternoon, with heavier rain showers after sunset.
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
Good morning! Sun will give way to clouds by midday, with rain arriving late afternoon/early evening. No severe weather, but heads up for outdoor plans. Don't let the AM view deceive you -- changes on the way later today.
010
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 30/07/2026
Good morning! It will be a picture perfect day today with light wind, sunshine and highs in the lower 80s. There will be some very high wildfire smoke out there, but nothing near the surface... so air quality should be fine today. Enough for some milky haze up there. Have a fantastic Thursday!!
010
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Does it get much better!? We’ll start mild near 70°, then only warm into the upper 70s/near 80° during the afternoon. The north breeze will keep humidity levels in-check. Enjoy some sunshine without sweating... woo hoo! :)

I thought many of you would enjoy a "weather geek" post to end the day. Did you catch the beautiful streaks in the sky this evening? Those are cloud shadows from a t'storm 120mi away! As the sun lowered, the clouds towering nearly 10 miles in the sky cast very large shadows.

Hey, everyone. Hope your weekend is going great! Overall, a fantastic forecast minus a few days. Some t'storms possible Sunday night and again Monday afternoon/evening (could be strong with some gusty wind). Other than that, we end July on a pretty quiet note.
050
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 25/07/2026
Good morning. Happy Saturday! A seasonable late July day is in the forecast. Sunshine with a few clouds (some high-level wildfire smoke as well). Temperatures will be in the lower/middle 80s, which is right where we should be for this time of the year.
010
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
The weekend is looking pretty good, with slight rain chances holding off until Sunday. Monday PM is the day to watch for some stronger storms (heavy rain, lightning, gusty wind). Otherwise, pretty dry and seasonably warm in my forecast! See less

Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
Friday looks like a fantastic July day across the area!! We’ll start cool and comfortable in the 50s, then warm close to 80° during the afternoon with sunshine and low humidity. Air quality looks good, so it’s a great day to open the windows, get outside and enjoy!
030
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
SUNNIER FRIDAY 2ND HALF: Early risers will likely be greeted with some clouds tomorrow, but as the day rolls on, I do expect sunshine to overspread the area from northwest to southeast. Any Friday PM plans look amazing, with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s during the afternoon.
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Hi! A nice little summer stretch is ahead, but the humidity starts to creep back in this weekend. We’ll keep plenty of dry time around, but a few storms may pop up Sunday into Monday as the heat builds back toward 90°. We'll want to watch Monday for some stronger storms in the PM.
010
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Another “free A/C” kind of day is on the way Thursday! We start chilly for late July with temperatures near 50° early, then warm into the mid-70s by afternoon with plenty of sunshine. Winds stay light, humidity stays low, and it’s another great day to open the windows!
010
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Enjoy the break from the heat while it lasts! Comfortable temperatures and cooler nights mean you can give the A/C a breather, open the windows, and save a little on the electric bill for a few days. Who else is looking forward to this!?
030
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
Good morning! Open those windows and enjoy the free A/C as temperatures are starting in the 50s and only climbing into the low 70s this afternoon. A few clouds early will give way to more sunshine later, with a refreshing north breeze keeping humidity low. Air quality stays good!
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
Raise your hand if you like free A/C? :)
050
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
Raise your hand if the natural A/C is your thing! If you're wanting more summer, we certainly aren't done... it's mid-July. :)
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Good morning! We'll clear out and enjoy some sunshine today with seasonable temperatures in the 80s. Some upper-air wildfire smoke/haze expected, but air quality will not be NEARLY as bad as last week. Have a great day! :)
000
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
Good morning! Some hazy/smoky sun today with temperatures in the lower/middle 80s, which is right on par for averages this time of the year. Air quality won't be TOO bad today, but certainly enough to limit time outdoors if you have asthma/COPD etc.
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
HI, everyone! Wildfire smoke/haze the theme the next two days, but it will be similar to today. Not NEARLY as bad as last week, but still not great for those of you with asthma, COPD, etc. The main theme in this forecast is COOLER air mid/late week. Overnight lows in the 50s, highs in the 70s.
130
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
4:30p EDT: That's about it, folks! If you have outdoor plans this evening, no issues expected. Folks in Central Indiana have a couple hours left, but northern Indiana & southwest Michigan are good to go. Have a great evening!
010
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
3:15p EDT: Regular old t'storms pushing through Northern Indiana. If you live in SW MI, you're done for the day. We have another 60-90min left for N. Indiana before these push south of US-24. Once they move south of you, you're done for day. Lightning & downpours.
031
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
1:30p EDT: Quick glance at radar shows that line of storms moving southeast. Heavy rain that lasts 45ish min, some lightning and brief non-severe wind gusts. Heads up for outdoor folks! After this moves through, that's it for the day. Late afternoon/evening looking just fine.
020
Meteorologist Matt Rudkin @mattrudkinweather.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
5:20p EDT: Some downpours out there, but they're hit/miss. Under the "hit", some lightning and heavy rain. Outside of there, nothing at all. Good news is the boundary associated w/ these storms is pushing smoke away. Air quality is rapidly improving!
