Today, I started the morning songwriting rather than immediately consuming news. I managed to get something started, which I hope to work on more later in the day. In an age of unrest, it’s easy for hypervigilance to supplant every productive, generative act. Creation is an antidote to malaise.

I’m halfway through Parable of the Talents, the Octavia Butler masterpiece. The book (as did the first in the series) feel like a warning, a prophecy, and a guide for survival. I could find no bound collection of the Earthseed wisdom, so I’m considering making one for myself.
