Bernie has been talking about that, but they can just use more precise terminology. The fear of superintelligence is mainly about recursive self improvement, so it's better to just specify RSI.

This seems like such a tiny amount of money in the scheme of things, but Trump often does ridiculous things for relatively small amounts of money.

What is your basis for claiming there's a messaging problem? Their candidates are mostly doing 10+ points better than in 2024.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
They got great candidates in North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, Alaska, Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska. The Senate candidates for Michigan, Maine, and Minnesota, but those states are blue enough that they will likely win anyway. The deep red state pickups would not be possible with such weak candidates though

There's no alliance. Liberals are winning despite leftists doing everything they can to stop us.

You're clearly very upset that Democrats are winning. You're so upset that you feel the need to construct this ridiculous fantasy about the DNC doing badly. You may insist that doesn't mean you're a Republican, but there's no practical difference.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
I'm aware that the people on this app who base their personality on hating the Democratic Party call themselves "leftists" and insist that's different from the Republicans your're cheering for. Explain why you keep lying about the DNC being "ineffectual" when they're winning a landslide.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
LOL! Dems are winning in Texas, Iowa, and Ohio. We're up by so much in North Carolina and Georgia that Republicans are giving up on those states to focus on South Carolina and Kansas. I'm sorry you are losing so badly but you deserve it.

You are even more confused than I realized. Campaign autopsies are real things. Political parties do them when they lose.

The typewriter guild did not ask for word processing software to be developed. That's a really shocking revelation.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Apparently you do not know how jokes work. The preemptive autopsy was their attempt at a joke.

It depends on which faction of "leftists". You're on full fascist side so of course you just want to destroy the Democrats rather than change them. Is your ideal government a genocidal far-right dictatorship like Putin or Hamas?

If you want to pass an actual bill, you will eventually need to provide specifics, and that's when public opinion flips.

Illinois went Republican in the 2010 Senate election. Massachusetts went Republican in the 2009 Senate special election. Delaware was definitely in play in 2010 if they had a normal candidate.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Leftist candidates get lots of campaign donations but never win because voters hate them.
000
Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Why would anyone donate to the Democratic party unless they were well to the left of center? We also have lots of data showing Democratic donors are way to the left of voters. Donors support M4A. It's the voters who don't want to pay the higher taxes or lose their current healthcare.
100
Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Campaign money is one of the main things driving Democrats to the left because Democratic donors are much more left wing than the voters we need to win. The average voter isn't willing to pay a penny more for gasoline to fight climate change.

The original claim was that he could just solve these massive social problems overnight using a small fraction of the resources we currently use to mitigate these problems.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The historical records show that leftists can only win in extremely deep blue districts and that any Democrat who tries to appease leftists is punished for it. Leftists should be treated just like any other Trump supporters since their only goal is to help Trumpers gain more power.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Yes. There's no reason to ever try to ally with them. There's a reason they only protest Democrats and never protest Republicans.

So these right-wingers are fantasizing about a teenage boy being a girl and then claim it's anti-trans?

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I saw some of this growing up in Iowa, but it definitely wasn't universal.
000
Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Yes. Leftists keep hoping that Dems losing will push the party further left, even though that makes no sense. They're essentially Republicans but worse.

Do the writers at the Onion think the Democrats are going to lose the midterms? That's just delusional at this point.

Yes. It's not surprising that LLMs trained on human data have the same cognitive biases as humans.

That account is especially confusing because Lee Kuan Yu led one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world with an extremely high immigration rate.

Who's angle? Hanania is just making a joke. Did anyone watch any of the interview to see if Talarico is even mentioned? I think the real angle is that Fox News decided the midterm elections are so hopeless that they're pivoting to crazy evangelical slop.

Yes, if the majority of voters don't consider coup attempts to be a deal breaker, you can't stop them with by throwing more people in prison. You have to convince the voters not to vote for those people.
020
Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
We don't do that in countries with the rule of law.

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yes. We basically need a large shift in public opinion in the next 3 weeks, which is possible but quite unlikely

Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Brazil threw their last fascist president in prison, so now they're electing his fascist son. That doesn't mean we shouldn't prosecute fascist politicians when they commit crimes, but it doesn't deter people from voting for fascists. There's no substitute for effective governance.

Israel is 73% Jewish and 21% Arab. It's not unusual for one ethnic group to be a majority in a country.

Kansas also has a very popular woman Democratic governor, so this over performance isn't just among men.

So you took a sentence fragment out of context because it contained the extremely common word "want" that you thought was funny? That's not how jokes work unless you're 4 years old
000
Matt Lichti @mattlichti.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Is there a reason why you keep stopping at "want" and ignoring the remainder of the sentence? This is probably the most famous in the field released a year before ChatGPT. There's a link to the paper if you prefer that over the blog post. openai.com/index/instru...

If it's more useful, why didn't evolution push us in that direction? Human preferences don't seem more coherent or stable than animals with smaller brains. If anything, our larger brains allowed more room for different competing drives & heuristics, making us less coherent than insect brains.

This is such a dumb straw man that implies you don't know what consciousness is. If you think "conscious" is a synonym for "alive", then trees and bacteria must must also be "conscious".

The data center water use is actually for baptizing all the new LLM instances. We should also add some baptism related Bible verses to the system prompt just in case.

The inflection point for a lot of negative trends in reported well-being seems to be early 2010s as everyone began spending more time on social media and smartphones. The 1990s and early 00s internet didn't have algorithmic feeds making everyone crazy.
