I realize I haven't been keeping up with the TV shows posts. I assure you I did finish on the 20th, but will be catching up later when I can repost #29-#1 when it's less busy.

I could watch nothing but the highly profane Australian farming soap opera skit, though. They do get to bring back Olivia Colman for a funny skit about murder mysteries.

After Episode 1, it's surprisingly not as funny as I would've thought. There are some standout moments in Episode 2, but the show drags when they get self-referential in their focus group meetings.

UK sketch comedy show starring the comedy duo, a bit of a diversion from their 2006-2010 series That Mitchell and Webb Look. But in addition to the main duo, they add four new main stars: Stevie Martin, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Krystal Evans and Lara Ricote.

The whole thing with Harriet Dyer in the driving test with the old woman who did everything wrong, then asked “did I pass?” was pure cheese.

...stick her with SNL alums Tim Meadows and Molly Kearney, add an actual New Zealand actor who gets to keep his accent, have some side characters; then produce the whole thing in Montreal.

This is kind of a weird choice for how they cast the actors. The pilot I thought was kinda stretching for laughs, but I have to think this would even out after a few episodes. Take Harriet Dyer (an Australian actress from Colin from Accounts), give her an American accent...

E1 somehow involves pretty much an abandoned building, a hovel, really, that they try to mod into a B&B, and they get their first 2 civilian boarders, two students. Eventually we get to Kian's sketchbooks and design for this giant floating B&B...

"On a remote island, [South Korean YouTuber] Kian84 hosts a quirky B&B escape, where BTS' Jin and Ji Ye-eun lead guests thru playful exploits and delightful chaos." I don't get what's going on, but E1 with the gas-powered tram through the trees that takes 7 minutes to ride, that was cool.

The gangster promises to pay him back as soon as he gets out. Tae-san, sick of dealing with idiots like this, calls the office and tells Jwidol (Sung Yoo-bin), the rat angel and tech expert, to post the gangster’s bail; he’ll get the money one way or another.”

This agency, run by the angels, are essentially loan sharks for the criminal underworld. As Tae-san tells a gangster in prison that owes him money, they only loan money to criminals because it’s easier to collect from them.

Deborah Norville hosts this show--one of two syndicated daytime game shows to premiere around the same time. Based on the board game “Figment.” Place items in order, which is a surprisingly versatile format to work with. I didn't know dried pasta had a shorter shelf life than I thought!

The only issue with the "game" is a giant wheel spin at the end that makes no sense. But we're here for the former players, really. It's a “player voted out, new player comes in” format, like The Circle.

An excuse to re-showcase standout contestants from other Netflix competitive and non-competitive reality shows from mostly the US but a few foreign versions (The Circle, Squid Game, The Mole, Cheer, Too Hot to Handle, Love is Blind, Selling the OC, and The Ultimatum) in a cheesy summer camp milieu.

Feels at times a little like Ugly Betty (the business) and a little like Amelie (her not-so-subtle expressions). It's got some decent laughs along the way. Surprised at how much casual smoking there is in the show.

Despite its name, not a true crime special. This show just popped up out of nowhere, filmed somewhere in Mexico. Main character Lucrecia (Anita Gutiérrez) is in the ad biz and doesn't want to have kids. She fakes a pregnancy to become a popular influencer online.

There's some trickery involving some of the panelists—testing them on their observational skills, exposing the audience to a (fake for the purpose of the show) QR phishing scam to see who would bite, AI deepfakes, etc.

Australian comedy panel show focused on classic criminal cases in Australia; 2 panelists are actual experts in forensics but the other 2 panelists are comedians. YMMV depending on who's on the panel. When it hits, it's really funny (Rhys Nicholson in particular), but when it doesn't, it drags on.

He's actually recorded off site and doesn't ever have an in-person connection, but it makes the games slightly more human. The Guardian gave this a less-than favorable review, but again it's on the basis of "us regular people don't get the rules" which has been part of criticism since the original,

If the person who wins the prize decides to Take or Trade, they can either take their prize, or go to the Millionaire's Row where they're guaranteed to be in the finals (of about 10 people?) and that prize gets added in addition to the 1 million pounds for final winner to take home.

Something involving Millionaire's Row, and they're probably going to whittle down to one contestant in-studio to win 1 million pounds. One of the head to head rounds seems to crib the format from Tenable. But!

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins rejoin forces in this lottery-based game. 40 contestants start, the Qs are mainly survey Qs ranking 5 options from most to least popular (“what's the nation's favorite ___”). The big draw is that whatever prize they're offering, someone wins that same prize at home.
