Today's choice of t-shirt has wholeheartedly been endorsed by @marinemumbles.bsky.social. I knew she'd understand. #BIGEvent26

Day 1 at #BIGEvent26 included a wander around a building I worked in regularly during the first 7-8 years of its opening. I had a bit of catching up to do @stemlearning.bsky.social National STEM Centre and met some former colleagues. Then I got distracted by the Lego. Very distracted.

York Minster is quite something without anyone in it. Even though I've experienced this before, I still wanted to allow myself a few minutes to pause and just take it in. Magical.

Congratulations and thank you to the organisers of today's #CardiomyopathyUK patient conference. I cannot emphasise how uplifting it is to hear about latest research and to speak to other patients. Great to see @thehearthive.bsky.social there too.

Huge thanks to everyone who made the Festival such a brilliant night. Here’s to the sparks — big and small — that keep us going. Whether you’re outdoors amongst nature or finding a quiet moment at home, I hope you discover something today worth celebrating. Here's one of mine! ✨

If you’re having a rough day, please know this: progress isn’t about “carrying on as normal”. It’s about noticing and celebrating the little wins — a moment of laughter, finishing a task, enjoying a view. Small sparks of joy matter and can change the feel of a whole day.

What you don’t always see behind the microphone is that I live with a progressive heart condition. It’s unpredictable, exhausting and mentally challenging. Yet standing there on Saturday, part of the atmosphere and joy, reminded me how powerful it is to keep finding things that lift you up.

🔥 What a weekend at the Festival of Fireworks, Catton Hall! Thousands gathered under the night sky for a spectacle of colour, sound and shared awe — and I had the privilege of being host. 🎤 Nights like these remind me why live events matter. 👇 [Thread]

Earlier this week, I was fortunate to be part of a #Cardiomyopathy UK visit to #CureHeart Labs @ox.ac.uk . We went behind the scenes to see cutting-edge work on inherited heart conditions. Lots of uplifting conversations between researchers and patients giving real hope for progress.👇

2/3 🛠️ H&S makes you credible. Show you’ve thought about risks & how to mitigate them, and you’ll gain trust. It’s simple: If clients see that you care about safety, they’ll invite you back. Safe = professional. #ScienceFestivals #SciComm

1/3 💡 Think health & safety kills #SciComm creativity? Think again! A solid H&S plan unlocks exciting ideas. From explosive demos to hands-on activities, good planning ensures you can WOW your audience(s) safely. Risk assessments aren’t red tape; they’re your backstage pass to incredible engagement!

When it comes to #SciComm, good health and safety management enables exciting content and engagement. Whatever the hazard(s), big or small, I support production teams, presenters and exhibitors with H&S and risk assessments, enabling them to shine and inspire. www.matthewtosh.com/health-safet...
