Petition to have John Baizley go on every Mastodon tour from now on.

🎃 Bat-thew Harper 🎃 @matthewharper.bsky.social · 16h

Mastodon has never sounded better than they have on this tour. They have emerged out the other side of all the crazy shit with a renewed energy and passion and it shows.

At ye olde Mastodon concert. Deafheaven opened. They were fine.

Really wanted to love STREET FIGHTER, but only sort of liked it in the end. It feels like the first drafts of two very different takes on the franchise stitched together with way, way too many anime segments. The funny stuff plus Chun Li infiltrating M. Bison's evil empire and tournament? Great!

Needless police chase here in Des Moines yesterday. Ended when officers fucked up a pit maneuver and rolled the fleeing vehicle completely. Ejected and killed the driver AND his passenger, who was a mom of four. ACAB.

Really awesome to see Soderbergh offering to help Reeves out. THE BATMAN is a big film for me. Reeves seemed to have taken the look of my dream Batman film directly out of my head and shot it for real. I hope everything with his family is okay or on the way to being okay.

Everything has been generally terrible since Amelia Earhart went missing, so hopefully finding her shifts the planet's vibes.

I hope someone out there is dumb enough to spend $300 on that THE ODYSSEY box set as opposed to the $26.50 I just paid for the standard 4K.

Remedy Entertainment is so much better at making video games than literally every other studio that it's almost annoying. What's everyone else doing with their time?!

Pattinson is on record as someone who enjoys lying in press events, so this doesn't surprise me. He's absolutely remarkable in the movie, but he plays Hansen like a feral animal backed into a corner. There's no cool, it's borderline unhinged. It's awesome.

The Flanagan discourse is the same as the discourse over DISCLOSURE DAY. A bunch of cynical assholes who are enraged that the art they come across isn't as hopeless as they are. I block and move on with my day. Sorry you've all given up.

Vinny is a relentless climber, so I gave him something new to climb that's actually intended for it.

New Greta Van Fleet album is damn good. I know non-musical internet trolls are still desperately clinging to the "they sound like Zeppelin" idiocy -- ironic, considering LZ were relentless plagiarists who had only ever heard of one book -- but that's life.

At this point, anyone trotting out idiotic takes on Mike Flanagan's work is an instant block. That goes double if they're a terrible author with a history of treating people like shit online.

Stopped at QuikTrip for a snack and a little robot mop was wandering around yelling that it was cleaning the floor and "thank you for shopping at QuikTrip." Seemed like a cool little dude.

Feeling nostalgic, listening to the old band. Wish we'd gotten to record more of our stuff, but grateful we could at least get this old demo cleaned up a bit because I was absolutely beating the hell out of my drums on it. The fill at 4:58 rules. And I love the dissolve into static.

We're at the final steps now for the basement. The music has returned. Time to shelve the vinyl and throw some posters on the wall.

Everyone wants to try to reduce head trauma and check for concussions in the NFL until it mildly inconveniences them as a fan, and then it's "this is bullshit the refs are forcing our best player off the field."

Every electronic thing needs an update because they've been sitting in storage for three months, but the TV, players, and consoles are all back in action and wire managed as far as is possible in a two cat household. Movie shelves are in place and anchored, so filling those is tomorrow's goal.

While people are rightfully taking a moment to trash talk radio country, a reminder to listen to Tyler Childers, Ian Noe, Sturgill Simpson, and Vincent Neil Emerson. The good stuff is out there and they're good people, too.

For some reason, I thought the new King novel was releasing at the end of October. It's not. It's out on the 6th. I'm going to have to absolutely tear through Talisman and Black House, but it'll be a blast.

Basement will, at long last, be fully repaired from the flood damage by Friday afternoon. Built a new TV stand, coffee table, and storage for my vinyl today. Will get that moved down on my next "weekend" (Sun-Tues).
