Yeah, this. I watched firefighters carry children's bodies out of collapsed apartments. That's on top of Russia attacking Ukrainian communications and energy infrastructure. But the data centers and petro plants in Russia are too far. I'll feel sorry for cancer when it finally dies of Elon Musk.

But has Zelenskyy ever considered that Russia promised to help Trump in the midterms by releasing such a small quantity of diesel it wouldn't help even if they could deliver it so Trump could get a scapegoat for his Iran war Hormuz fuck-up, one which won't move the needle at all? Huh?

The thing is even a subset of the dumbest MAGA knows Trump started the Iran war and when diesel spiked. Their grip of linear time isn't great but it's not that fucking bad.

The fury is the receipt. When refineries and export terminals start costing Moscow real revenue, the lobbying to make Kyiv stop tells you exactly which target set hurts. Watch what they demand Ukraine stop hitting, not what they say about peace.

I mean we all knew this would be the stance once he could find a way to shift blame from Iran. Putin promised him a week of diesel he can't deliver.

But "I stopped Iran from having something it could never use WITH MAXIMUM VIOLENCE" is not only a stupid argument for a peace prize, it's a stupid argument for a country not to develop a nuclear weapon. At this point the one thing the war has shown is fuck it, you may as well.
000
Matthew Best @matthewbest.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
At that point they're out of nukes, have broken the nuclear taboo, and you don't need need a nuke to respond, the entire region will level every part of Iran on its own with conventional weapons. Should the Iranian leadership have nuclear weapons? No. I mean it'd be nice if nobody did.

Matthew Best @matthewbest.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
I've always been wondering about his stupid Iran shit. A state with a few short range nuclear weapons will never use them offensively. What are they going to do? They won't touch Jerusalem or Mecca, even the hardliners would kill them. So they take out, say, Tel Aviv or Riyadh or Baghdad. Then what?

The reason I wanted to comment was because while it's (Nazi) serendipity that it worked out that way, I'm sure, it's improbable and easily deniable and gives smoke screens to his actual fascism. Acidic irony, yes. Wink wink wit from a moron, no.

I say this as friendly as I can: Please don't do this. A lot of immature dumbasses are fascinated by the letter X thanks to its Gen X/X-Files "mystery catch all". Musk is also stupid and understands nothing about computers, so he wouldn't have fixated on this ~30 years ago when he first dreamed up X

In Canada, we had a case where a guy in Quebec killed a cop who didn't identify himself as a cop when busting down the guy's door and was rightly acquitted for it. The 2nd Amendment crew scared of every black person will probably tell us buddy should be a mind reader and know it's ICE.

Matthew Best @matthewbest.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Uh excuse me he's begging for EIGHT Nobel peace prizes, thank you very much. He didn't bomb innocent school girls to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon from the program he totally obliterated one year earlier after tearing up Obama's nuclear deal so you could undersell the peace prize count

It was what I could never figure out about him. I don't knock people for their genetics but I will knock somebody for appearing on television without apparently not only not shampooing, but not even showering or even just doing the Wolfowitz/Sean Penn Lockjaw comb thing.

I'm reeling from the statute they cite. Even privacy concern legislation that attach to publicly-held records have carve-outs for other people in those records for obvious reasons. Personnel records? If your personnel record says you robbed a liquor store, the liquor store owner has an interest.

Let's draw down reserved low-tax diesel stocks. Yeah, genius. Starve the tractors to fuel the trucks that carry their produce. Also surely won't produce quicky fuel laundering where any half-assed detergent leaving leftover Red 26 in the mix can be excused as a red/white blend and sold for profit.

The war has been going on about half that period now, with way, way more casualties, rapidly evolving tech (OWA, FPV) coupled with an equal regression in tactics to 100+ years ago (trench warfare, artillery flattening) and massive cycle of conscripts, volunteers, and voluntolds.

This was already extant before. If you look at African theaters -- take Ethiopia-Eritrean theater in 2000s, given that threatens to flare up again -- you had Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian "consultants" for both Ethiopia and Eritrea. They were, at most, hardened by Somalia or Afghanistan (78-89).

Anybody who has ever stuck their head out of a car window knows this isn't true. Microphones hit saturation. Antennas do too, incidentally, that's what RF jamming is when you flood a frequency with noise. But radio engineer refused to understand this because sound waves are waves but RF is radio.

Matthew Best @matthewbest.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Having worked with engineers, the engineer's disease is real. They'll even tell other engineers nonsense. To wit, I had an electrical engineer arguing with an acoustic engineer that sound waves should be detectable with a microphone at high speeds. After all, radio waves are.

Yes but again the point is to shift blame for high fuel prices before the midterm
020
Matthew Best @matthewbest.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Notably what Trump is getting is an export of "wah wah it wasn't me that drove up fuel prices it was Ukraine" for morons who can't count and have no sense of linear time

LMAO if you get Air Bud you can cast Air Bud, where I had John Milius cast him in an animated movie as a voice actor. For a silent character.
The Ledger -- an animated movie where the dog from Air Bud voices a silent character.

I remember watching the Quebec biker wars where Hells Angels and Rock Machine were killing each other and bystanders and not once did I feel the need to pick a fucking team or measure whose car bombs were more devastating to decide which gang was less guilty. Not a thought that crossed my mind.

They're of the same type who cheer Stalin because he opposed Hitler or cheer Hitler because he opposed Stalin. The post-hoc rationale that any reaction to a bad system shows the reaction is good, or any bad reaction to a system shows the system is good. It's a child's absolute binary.

Oh indeed, he is laughing. While I'm sure Putin's allies Iran and Venezuela have, especially with Venezuela, humiliated him to a certain extent, he's equally happy to throw them under the bus if it means Trump is causing chaos.

There *ARE* two sides to every story: what is true, and what is not. The media, who are lazy, substitute it with two camps, and pretend each holds equal truth.

His presence has really been exactly the right posture for a prior public figure. The biographical acknowledgement (which would seem delusional if he didn't) never descends into braggadocio flexing to displace policy/ignorance.
