I'm trying to shop for a shirt online and it's like the models are stupidly handsome, I know they're trying to trick me into thinking I'll look like that. Not gonna work.

It's irrelevant, but something irks me about the way these people use exclamation points.

Nice. In spite of the reckless policies enacted by the current administration, many rural farmers likely cannot fathom voting for a Democrat - it's almost counter to their identity. I wonder how we might change this perception in Western Illinois.

Well, then I'm surprised they hadn't implemented nationality-based restrictions.

surprised they rolled it out as they did without anticipating the need to first enforce jurisdiction-based restrictions. unless it was intentional.

Cheers. "Lock in" was not quite the right term. I think of it as designing my pipelines and processes such that they can easily benefit as more powerful models or agentic patterns emerge. We are certainly spending a good amount of time decomposing those workflows into suitably granular tasks.

Is this primarily about avoid vendor lock-in? What are your other recommendations? I am very much interested, as someone running such an ensemble.

Wikipedia says Mr. Elbridge Colby identifies "as a realist". Mr. Colby also grew up the son of an investment banker expat in Tokyo.

I run thousands of Japanese shareholding filings through a schema'd LLM for activist intent classification, but only after a regex pre-filter skips the 93% that are rubber-stamp boilerplate. I see regex before an LLM call, and I think someone's not asleep at the wheel.

An analyst agent builds investment theses, a skeptic challenges each one with researched counter-points, an outlook agent synthesizes both sides. Point it at a ticker. github.com/matthelmer/kabu-agent www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UDQ...

One of my core use-case for LLMs is investment research. I'm investing in Japanese equities. 3,800+ listed companies, most with zero sell-side coverage. The filings exist in Japanese, in a format almost nobody parses. I open-sourced the research system patterns I use. Demo + repo below.

This man went to my high school (Quincy, IL) and graduated the year above me. IIRC, he was QB of the football team, a wrestler and probably homecoming king, before deploying. Seemed like everyone liked him. Not surprised to see him doing this. I'm donating to him, for sure.

My dad bought a pinto for like $250 in 1991, i wanna say. He told my sister and me it was a "sports car". No fatalities and five years later, he sold it for ~$200.

Returning from a visit to view Lee's armies in spring 1864, Lincoln's party passed a brigade of black soldiers, who came "screaming, yelling, shouting: 'Hurrah for the Liberator; Hurrah for the President.'" Lincoln was moved to tears, "his voice so broken by emotion that he could hardly reply".

Where can a honest, hard-working, non-nazi-supporting American park their retirement dough these days without their brokerage turning into a charlatan supporter? Not happy about that, Fidelity.

Thought-provoking. Forgive me, but believing things are exactly as they seem sounds like an enormous effort. Reality feels overwhelmingly complex. People get seduced into private myths for the comfort and certainty, even if they are trying _really_ hard. Business models farm that vulnerability..

Apparently the requirements for positions of leadership were not what the school leaders thought when they took on the job. Cowards. They'd have a whole network of alumni standing with them if they showed a spine, like @katmabu.bsky.social does for Evanston.

Tactic of corrupting how a particular word is used, in order to paper over one's lack of understanding, or inability to answer precisely. Terms like "operator", or "compute", where to question its usage would make one appear foolish.
