You keep writing them, Dave, and I’ll keep reading them! (And I’m talking both comics AND your uplifting posts!)

This book has remained at the top of my to-read/anticipated read stack since issue 1. It is so amazingly good. I look forward to the conclusion but know I’ll miss it once it’s done.

(Kinda. They've been sitting for a year+. I may want to dust them off and spruce them up. And in doing so, the twelve will probably become twenty, so the story can breathe a little.)

If any of my artist friends have any interest in collaborating on a fun, Archie Comics inspired romance story, let me know. I have a one-page and a twelve-page story ready to go! (Art by Troy Dongarra for attention)

(By “FINISH IT” I’m just saying to finish your projects. Get it out there. Accept that it’s not going to be perfect. That most will never read it & those that do may not like it. But maybe your book makes 5 people smile. And that’s rad. While they’re smiling, you’re off making an even better comic.)

Late night post: something that's obvious to comics writers but not to the audience is that every comics artist is a co-writer. In comics, images are writing. No matter how detailed the script's descriptions are, artists are making a million micro choices about story, flow, emotion.

Research for a dream project begins. This collects the first year of Superman stories, from Action Comics #1-13 and also Superman #1, published between June, 1938-July, 1939. Excited to dig in and see how it all began.

Maybe if looking to do something in an editorial role a college degree would be helpful. But if the goal is to make comics the best way to learn is to make them. (It has helped having a few creators in my circle to reach out to for advice & vice versa. That’s more important than a degree, I think.

The only part of writing comics I don’t thoroughly enjoy is typing up the stupid solicitation text (that supposedly sells the book, but let’s be real, probably no one reads?). But every other aspect? I friggin’ love it with my whole stupid smelly heart. (Also-Slaughter Otter 2 FOC today)
