MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Id forgotten this moment when I drove into the Matrix on the way home from 6D Diesels with the Crown Vic, when I passed 'my' W163 Merc ML. Does anyone else get unnessesarily excited when they see a car twin of theirs on the road, that you dont see so much anymore? 180
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026The ML had been being useul again. This weekend was a Scout camp so Mrs F took it loaded it up with all the Scout troops tents, food, games and everything thing else. And on the way home all the bin bags of rubbish and recyling. Its a handy old thing! 270
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Now you say it, I know what you mean. Just needs a bubble window in the rear side panel 110

MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Also this. I posted about it last week, and got lots of great suggestions for cars, but all the ones that would repalce a deisel estate are at least £15000 for older models, more like £25-30,000 used and £50k new 220
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Its not, people will be makign choices about fuel or other essentials 120
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026My wifes had the first Clubman, F55 & 56 3 and 5 door and now the current/last Clubman, its been interesting and sad to see how far theyve come from the original concept since the R50 - drive a current one and an R50 together and the 2001 feels so close to the original on comparison 040
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Good piece. The anger at the new Mini was crazy at the time, but although I knew they were good, my immediate memories of old Minis were friend's aging snotters breaking down alot in the 90s, so was excited to see the new one and almost bought a new Cooper in 2001 120
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026That was why I got one too, but just a huge many many litre bottle thing after getting fed up of carting 5 buckets outside! 010
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I had one from Must Have Ideas, it worked well but was fragile and just broke apart, this feels much more substantial 010
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Masive thanks to the very kind viewers who kindly donated an unwanted battery & bucket jetwasher at Rustival after mine literally fell apart. This badly needed some Diamondbrite Ceramic Snow Foam as it was filthy, & Hippo the Freelander visited and you wont belive how the wheel gime we cleaned off! 260
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Beware doing that, you get a jumbled box of slop! I order complete as it keeps it together and travel with Warburtons brioche buns-I hate brioche burger buns but anything gf is a step heavier, so they are about right for a ‘normal’ equivalent 010
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Those are amazing, I’ve been looking for one to do up on videos, but weirdly don’t seem to be Ulez as the engine isn’t ok for that? 120
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026That’s on the short list, under £7000 at trade auctions, might even make out of the car park before it breaks 130
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It can go across the back seat floor in this, I suspect fine in an Ioniq 5 as it’s vast 010
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I’m GF so similar, but can go in with my own bread and dismantle a Big Mac and rebuild it with my own hun while staring pointedly at the counter. I think their hash browns are ok if you can cope with cross contamination 100
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It does but it’s not up to date and east London has changed so much since it last updated, or got live traffic (have to subscribe for both-nope!) 110
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Morning disaster! What’s missing from this picture? If you said the tea and coffee I left in the kitchen before leaving for work you’d be correct… (Taken on glasses, posted from McDonald’s) 360
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026And should add security is an issue-interesting Peli cases on the back seat look very tempting to thieves 110
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I love those and do want one, but it wouldn’t be a good all rounder-my camera bag won’t fit in the boot and my big tripod is taller than the car is wide! 210
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026same, unless its an old one that comes with free lifetime charging I wouldnt 010
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Its my favourite choice but not yet fallign into the 'affordable' bracket 100

MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026While the MX5 is regarded as the spiritual successor to the Elan, and the M100 was the actual replacement, there was a car with an evern greater claim to the crown of the New Elan - the Evante Link in the comments 1142
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I dont want anyting newer than 2022 to avoid all the 'help', but anything PHEV or EV older than that is pushing the range limits, unless its a long range Model S 100
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The gearbox is fine as autos go, even good, I just dont like it 110

MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026but cost far more than Id be willing (or probably able) to spend. I cant imagine paying £400 or £500 a month for a car, thats insane to me 000
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The snob in me totally agrees, even a newer, more valuable one would feel like a step down! 110
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Its a maybe, Id rather go fully in if I was going to but might have to do that. Or just stick with expensive deisel 000
MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Ive seen that in the metal, it looks good and is the right shape but its a hybrid, and the interior isnt as nice as my current car, and most significantly is too much money. See also the Astra EV estate, looks good but £40k for an Astra (even £23,000 used) is a boat load of cash 010

MattFuriousDriving.bsky.social @mattfd.bsky.social · 01/10/2026As is often the case, Im browsing ebay looking for that elusive sub £500 Austin 7, and to my mild surprise, someone thought ebay was the ideal place to list their 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Atalante, a snip at £1.8 million. I guess he had no joy on Marketplace? Also only 5 photos and none of the interior 4140
