Songs that name a fictional character - go! Bonus points if you know what Crowded House song made me think to ask this.

I loved this book, but it leaves out a really important part of history. When The Replacements opened for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Today is Bandcamp Friday, which means it's the only day of the month that that musicians make any money. You should support a bunch of artists today to help them make more music. And if I can say, I'd love if you'd support widdle ole us. There's other ways you can show support too:

Fun music fact: the band Truck Stop Love from Kansas had a song titled You Owe because they were trying to write a song that sounded like Urge Overkill. Get it? UO? Anywho, they succeeded.

The Apple Music for Artists app isn’t working. How am I supposed to know where my 3 streams are coming from?

What's been your favorite album released in 2026 so far? I love The Jayhawks and Son Volt, but I've gotta go with Olivia Rodrigo's album as my favorite.

I finally put everything I do in one place. mattderda.com now has the band, Storymind, writing, the shop, marketing work + whatever I get into next. It’s not meant to sit there, either. New Storymind exercise every week, plus new music, writing and projects. Come poke around.

Finally, if you want vinyl or a CD we have them available on ElasticStage. It's not Bandcamp, but hard copies are a great collectors items. Especially since there are only 6 copies total of our vinyl in existence! They are extremely rare! elasticstage.com/mattderda/re...

I recorded this on my phone. I tuned my guitar to open A (a Paul Westerberg First Act guitar. Humble brag). I was all improvised. I cannot for the life of me remember how to play this song. But I love it, so I figured I'll still put it out to the world. mattderdamusic.bandcamp.com/track/outta-...

his one is a banger and I wrote it after hanging out with Evel Knievel's family at Knievel Days in Montana. I always wanted to do a music video for this song with the band playing while motorcycles jump over us. mattderdamusic.bandcamp.com/track/evel-k...

This song I wrote with my buddy Joey Greene. The guitar solo at the end was done in the theater's stairwell. I used a Fender Mustang, Fender Bassman, & Rat pedal. The cabinet was at the top of the stairs the mic was at the bottom. The reverb is all natural mattderdamusic.bandcamp.com/track/love-t...

Since it’s the 4th of July, I think it’s appropriate to share the music video to a song I wrote called Bad Day (Gettin’ Worse). I started writing it during the pandemic and… well, you’ll get it. youtu.be/ZJF_mORvzQQ?...
