High school sports Local city councils Local reporting on a number of issues: zoning, business developments, employment opportunities, etc If you want them focused on the college, I’m sure there is incredible vacuum in campus reporting and needs for “entry level” voices.

Careful, excel spreadsheets put a lot of transcripts and accountants out of business. We wouldn’t want people upset that tech is taking over important entry level jobs. 😂

It sucks for you. Got it. That sucks and I truly hope you can find a place to cover live sports. There are plenty of people that do it and why not you.

It’s also a cheap entry that is easy to replace for those actually paying for it. Economically that matters. Local journalism (including high school sports) or community reporting has a higher input cost, but has somehow been deemed less important in that growth phase.

And I really hope your community doesn’t rely on shit AI can replace for those stories. My sports community definitely doesn’t. I might be unique, but I’ve seen PR replace actual reporting, so because something else is too doesn’t cause me much loss.

I would question what you’re calling AI. Cause a lot of those “stats” you read are the same algorithms running LLMs. It replaced a human (at ESPN, CBS, Whatever stat app you’re looking at). Why are recap so much more important?

Learn to do short meditations. It doesn't take a lot of time, but can really provide a respite when the stress gets high and you've been burning the candle at both ends. A 15 minute meditation for me can empty the brain's inbox and give me more room to keep going.

It's better, they told him the only reason they interviewed him was because of the Rooney rule they needed to satisfy. He was then hired by Rooney's team and went on to never have a losing season, 1 Title, 2 Super Bowls... and Miami hasn't won a playoff game since.
