went up to crookes and worked my way down trying to put up flyers for the jenga. a couple of places were like "oh we only do local events, sorry" but then have loads of AI flyers for wellness weekends and shit, very strange

one of our neighbours was playing fetch with their two dogs between 1am-2am the other night. they were stood in their doorway hurling the ball down the road, then there was the scampering of two dogs, and then whistling to get them back.

feel a bit like I'm actually becoming part of a few communities at the moment and it's a great feeling. semi-decent electronic music, middling photographer, aspiring comedian. and I think getting sober (4.5 years now) and getting an autism diagnosis and a better understanding of myself have been key

a vaguely interesting little area of sheffield #sheffield #photography

some buddleia, with a single bloom in the near foreground, growing in front of some heras fencing, protecting a bit of wasteland, in front of Persistence Works in Sheffield. There are parts of dead grasses mixed in with the buddleia which is still green and presumably thriving.

a mattress, potentially abandoned, in the same bit of wasteland as the background of the last photo. thinking about it, this bit of wasteland is actually where the Access Space building used to be- i built a little raspberry pi synthesizer, and went to a few gigs in that place.

3 low concrete pedestals that appear vaguely mushroom-like above a floor that has at some point been painted various snazzy colours that are now faded. looking at this place on google maps i see that it is named "pinball park" and that makes sense with all the other strange sculptural stuff around there.

a winding porter brook trail heading towards the showroom from matilda street. the grass is all yellow and dead. you can see a glimpse of the bbc sheffield building and then i reckon it is student accomadation beyond that. this is near to where you get into the river to go on the megatron tours.

i am happy with myself for asking though. i had my 5dmk3 on me and it did struggle to find focus in the darkness so next time i will need to ensure i have the 6d on me as that seems to do a bit better. or use a flashlight or something to get focus.

there was some fun stuff on this weekend to look at. went to the park at midnight on saturday to try some long exposure shots of the "small park, big run" event, and then on sunday there was the krazy races charity kart race thing. #sheffield #photography
