#FPL 1 is back. Fixture Difficulty Rating 1… it’s finally back! (Just in time to be applied to my beloved Leeds next season, I assume)
A screenshot from the Fantasy Premier League website showing a grid of fixtures, each with one of five different background colours. Each colour represents a “difficulty rating”, ranging from 1 (easiest) to 5 (most difficult).

#FPL Is anyone doing worse than 14 points from 9? 😂
An FPL team screenshot from midway through game week 26. Six players have each scored 2 points. Two players have each scored 1 point. And Arteta Assistant Manager scored a big fat zero. There are 3 players left to play.

I honestly know next to nothing about current WRC. But I agree it’d be great to see the entrants reflect a bit of pride in their participation via special OTR editions. I basically just want every small and mid-sized car to have a version that makes it look like a Lancia Stratos 🤤

Villa’s one-off anniversary kit has been handled really masterfully. www.footyheadlines.com/2025/01/vill...
A close-up of the badge used in Aston Villa’s one-off anniversary kit. A heraldic red lion rampant faces right. Beneath it, a decorative scroll reads “Prepared”. Arcing in a circle above these elements is the full club name, “Aston Villa Football Club”, all uppercase, using lettering with swashes and other decorative elements that appear inspired by Victorian era type design.

You’re right, though – a circular icon doesn’t have to do the obvious and sit inside a circular badge. I often think Orlando City are a good example of that.
The Orlando City badge. A lion’s head sits in a circular mane, stylised to also resemble a radiating sun. This sits above the name “Orlando City”, set across two straight lines. All elements are placed inside a modern simplified shield shape.

I really wanted to push the boat out with a bespoke font. #lufc can’t own IP on the white rose, but dropping the rose from the badge doesn’t mean dropping it from our identity. Roses are beautiful, but also thorny and horrible to handle. Like all the best Leeds teams. [4/6]

Flexibility gives a badge a better shot at longevity. Let fans wear and remix the different constituent elements however they like! The primary peacock icon should ideally be as strong by itself as when it’s part of the full badge. [3/6]

I shared an earlier version back in 2020, as something to do during lockdown. In summer 2023, I set about correcting the flaws that I’d picked up on. Namely: creating a bolder peacock, and giving the roundel a more distinctively #LUFC flavour. [2/6]

Remember @leedsunited.com setting the world record for backpedaling after releasing the PES badge, then every fan and their dog had a stab at it too? Yeah, I was one of them. Great way as a designer to scratch the creative itch, though. And I still love what I came up with. 🦚 [1/6] #LUFC #design

Just pulled the trigger on Hall and Colwill in (TAA and Rico Lewis out). £14m for an Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle defence with these fixtures is too good to turn down. Especially when it enables a three-mium 👀 #FPL

I’m very tempted by these moves. 5 FTs, what a novelty! I’d be left with £0.1 ITB, so I might have to get on with it. Trying to ignore the unlucky horseshoe of yellow flags. #FPL

The influx here over the last few weeks looks to have been almost exponential. When @bsky.app announced recently they’d hit 10 million users, I absolutely expected that I would have been around the 9½ millionth to join. The number I did get is pretty satisfyingly easy to remember, though.
